College Junior

Nightlife: I am not a nightlife person, I don't enjoy parties or crowded areas so I haven't attended any nor have ive heard that it exists in our school.

College Senior

Nightlife: I'm not much of a party person after my first semester, I found out I was more of a relax at a quiet place and discuss books with a few friends kind of person . I know that parties exist, which bars are in range and what distance, but for anything in depth and detail I have to say I'm a bit clueless on that.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: My school doesn't seem too much of a house party school. For nightlife, students resort to local bars that have "college nights" with cheap drink prices and reduced cover charge. I think the party scene has a positive impact on student experience because it creates a bond between the students.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: Night life is fun. Lot's of things to do

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Get shut down really early

There aren't many parties on campus, as the security is very strict and many students fear getting written up for drinking (as they do not want to lose their housing). There is a pub located underground on campus for older students, but it closes early. Unlike what many may hear, the fact that San Francisco State is a commuter school does not ruin the nightlife. Parties occur almost every night within the townhomes and tower flats of Parkmerced, the closest apartment complex to SFSU. And for those involved in Greek life on campus, usually they hold frequent parties all over the city.

Downtown San Francisco is littered with many 18-and-up clubs, and many concert venues, such as the Fillmore, the Warfield, and hundreds more. Don't worry about not having a good time in the darkness of the city. Lots of restaurants stay open late into the next morning, and a student can always find a dive bar to call home. A popular side job for 21-and-up students is a go-go dancer or promo girl, which may involve dancing on stage or handing out trial alcohol at clubs.

Did You Know?
Lots of under-21 clubs exist in the Bay Area if you are looking, so finding something to do isn't really a problem. A few students actually work the clubs as go-go dancers with companies, or promo girls handing out Red Bull drinks.
