4 College Senior

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus, if in the event I feel that I am in danger I can call for an escort or call campus police, and the students are generally helpful and supportive of those who have suffered a sexual assault. I have no hesitation in saying if a sexual assault were to occur within the proximity of another student, that help would come and there would be no bystanders for that kind of ordeal.

Health & Safety: Student services have a therapy office and the health center has testing and preventative care

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: We have a few cops around, but not enough to protect everyone. It's great to have them there, but they don't really do much.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I feel safe on campus even at night, it is very well lit and has emergency posts all throughout campus.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Safe in the day, but be cautious at night times.

Even though the school has seen its fair share of petty theft and midnight robberies and such, many of the students still feel very safe on campus. The San Francisco Police Department is conveniently located right next to the Library Annex, and the bicycle cops regularly patrol the school. The University even has sent out "Segway Cops" to patrol Parkmerced—the apartment complexes located right outside of the school, home mainly to SFSU students.

The bottom line to stay safe on campus is to follow the general guidelines students have heard again and again from parents. There is not a lot of serious crime in the SFSU area, so there is not much to be scared or worried about, but it's better safe than sorry. The amount of patrol officers and the easy access to the red alarm boxes on campus provide a safe zone for students.
