San Francisco’s campus draws out a very relaxed and spacey vibe. This commuter campus is often full of free space to lounge in the grass near Cesar Chavez Center; there are also silent study bubbles open for all. It is not a campus on lockdown that prevents the freedom of expression for students.
In general, SF remains hippie-esque. Most teachers are well-liked and maybe even considered "hip" themselves. Be sure not to miss out on a “life-changing” human environment course or a fun day in the water with oceanography or "History of Life." While it might be enough to say that San Francisco State’s strictness scale really levels with the stereotypes of SF culture, there’s more. On campus, not only do you feel like a part of a quiet serenity, but you don’t feel so hustled. Path, length, walking speed—it all seems OK. Just mosey your way on through.
