Many of the food choices at San Francisco State are downright delicious. Campus favorites have included the cheap and filling chicken pesto avocado sandwich and the ultra cheap and tasty smoothies. The dining hall, where students living on campus are forced to eat, is just bland and pretty much the equivalent of a high school cafeteria. The best plan is to ditch the meal plan after freshman year and grab your groceries from the Trader Joe's up the street.

Campus dining is very multicultural, and any type of cuisine can be found, which makes the on-campus dining options more diverse, including Mexican and Japanese dishes. The dining hall is great if a student doesn't care much about what is going into his or her body, which is why the extra cafés chock-full of healthy options are so welcomed on campus.
