  • Fill out the application fully and on time.
  • Have a good high school GPA.

Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • Be very outgoing if you are going to be living on campus.
  • If you are looking for healthy food options, stay away from the meal plans and buy your own groceries.
  • Pack summer clothes, as well as winter clothes; it's not always cold in San Francisco.
  • Seek out internships in the city.
  • Try to join as many extracurricular activities as possible.
Interviews & Information Sessions
Information sessions with a representative from Student Outreach Services typically last between 45 and 60 minutes. The session addresses general information concerning admission, majors, financial aid, residence life, and other subjects related to prospective undergraduate students.
Campus Tours
The one-hour guided campus tour is a walking tour on pathways outside of academic buildings; it's conducted by one of the University's trained tour guides who shares his or her experience as an SFSU undergrad. Tours of other facilities are arranged through a specific department/office.
Overnight Visits
There is no overnight option for on-campus housing visits until you are accepted into the University. The only other option is to stay in a hotel nearby, of which there are plenty. Once students are admitted to the University, they can attend the Orientation Overnight.

Did You Know?
The self-guided campus tour is available; just print out the publication from www.sfsu.edu/outreach/Self-guided_tour.pdf and bring it to campus. The tour begins at the Student Services Center (no. 1 on the campus map), but you can start from any location you choose.
