Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Nearly all San Diego State students are pleased with their decision to attend school here. They find that SDSU offers the perfect mix of stellar academics and a booming social life. With the beauty of the campus, the quality of the teaching, and the fun social environment, it is difficult to dislike much about the school, but some do. Those who tend to dislike San Diego State have reservations about the social scene, which is heavily conducive to partying and Greek life. This is a misconception. SDSU offers a lot, including partying, and the school is truly what you make of it. As long as people don't hold a grudge against the sort of environment that offers partying as an activity many choose to participate in, they will enjoy their time here. San Diego State is a very well-rounded school that has a lot to offer to a variety of students, but if you are searching for a strictly academic experience in a university with a prestigious reputation, you should look elsewhere.

San Diego State is essentially defined by its social culture, and if students relate to it, they love the school, and if they don't, they can loathe their time here. I have heard from numerous people about what a wonderful experience it is coming to San Diego State from their respective hometowns. The school allows for horizons to be expanded and eyes to be opened due to its engrossing academic and social atmosphere. The social scene is strong here, and if you're looking to learn a lot about people and how they work together, this school is a great fit for you. Some grievances with the school deal with the availability of classes and the inconvenience of impacted majors. Some majors require that you take course A before course B, and when you go to register for the semester, course A can be full. This frustration is well understood and it can be counteracted by planning ahead. While schools such as UC San Diego may have stronger academic reputations, San Diego State is by far the most effective university in San Diego, as it offers a chance for students to develop both their academic and social skills in a real-world setting.

Local Atmosphere: It has a trolley running right through the campus for students in need of transortation. This can take you all the way to the closely located malls down the 8 west. The Chargers Stadium is also just a short ride on the trolley. The local area doesnt have to much but with just a little transportation one can travel to numerous beachs and places in san diego that are not to far and have a lot of attractions, events, and activitys to do.

Parking: The price is a lot and there is always parking but depends how far you want to walk. During peak hours the parkin glots fill up a lot there is always spots but you might have to walk three floors or quite a distance to get to your car. Also if you do not have a permit the cost of nightly parking is so big. Tickets for not following the rules set by the school is a decent amount a friend of mine got a ticket for simply just having her sticker on the wrong side of her car. The need for a car inst there but they are very convenient allowing you to travel San Diego leave as you wish and enjoy more activities with friends such as beach.

Greek Life: I love greek life. IM (intra-murals) are one of the big perks of being in one. We have our own sporting orginizaiton in which we compete between each other. Also we are all really connected. The people who are outside of it may have diferent opinions but it has done nothing but help me with references with alumni as well as the friends a dn social life that it brought into my life.

Campus Housing: Love the social atmosphere but the dorm i particular live in is not my first option. It is not as clean and big as the other options. Students should be given the option to live in the suites for my pricing seeing as they are more clean with more bathrooms as well as living rooms. I love the convenience of living on campus but i wouldn't do the dorms again. It was a fun year which i would never trade but i wouldn't do it again. the showers are always taken or dirty as well as the bathrooms. People are loud that doesn't really bother me though i just hear of other people complaining.

Athletics: The San Diego State University has some of the best sports and fans in the nation. The school spirit is a major factor in my life now. The games are filled always with fans that will cheer till their last breath. The gym and athletic facility's are also very good in the idea of the cleanness and availability. We even have a rock climbing wall in our gym.
