Scholarships: I waited multiple times for 30 minutes or more on the line to speak to the financial aid office. The Financial Aid Advisors were very kind and helpful; I was very confident in their assistance. However, I'm still not quite completely at ease with the divisions of money in my award summary.

Off-Campus Housing: Everyone pretty much lives at home with their parents or students are more established individuals who are pursuing higher education for their work promotion needs. There is some availability of off campus housing but its far and few and seldom worth it.

Nightlife: the nightlife is bare bones. There is a movie theater called Calexico 10 and some shopping choices but for the real fun you have to head south of the border. Mexicali lies close to the school and it offers clubs bars and dancing any night of the week.

Local Atmosphere: Calexico is a small border town minutes away from Mexicali. It's very calm and clean with many restaurants although not a big variety of food is offered. As for entertainment, there is only one movie theater in Calexico and it's very affordable to visit. There are many parks around that are quite large and open. It's also 20 minutes away from the Imperial Valley Mall which is large and varied as well as surrounded by several department stores. One very popular place here is the Starbucks Coffee which is next to a GameStop, Subway and a Little Caesar's, all very visited. Also, there is a big Forever 21 store which is affordable and attracts many people.

Athletics: Do we have sports? Not that I know of, only at the main campus.

3 College Senior

Parking: Its great, but there is no one taking care of our cars :(

3 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: Since it is a small campus, they only offer 4 majors.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There is variety but not as good as other places I have been its manly family owned.

3 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Too Hot – The reality is this town is small there is not so many things to do. Most of my classmates are really smart, but they are forced to move away for the climate and for the lack of opportunities.

5 College Junior

Scholarships: They knew how to explain everything. I am very satisfied and will use it more often.

Facilities: Having No Gym – Having no gym sets us aside from anyone. What university has no gym?

Weather: The weather here is horrible extremely hot in the summer extremely cold in the winter.

1 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: The Imperial Campus – I really don't like this campus. There is nothing to do around it and in it. We have no gym, a small library, and hardly any classes offered. Not a good college experience.

College Senior

Campus Housing: Since SDSU-IV consist of vocational students campus housing is not available. Everyone still lives at home or independently.

2 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Not the Largest Variety – Majority of SDSU-IV students are vocational students therefor convenient dining spots are limited. It is mainly chain restaurants in the area and do not offer student discounts. It is easier and cheaper to pack your own lunch at home.

2 College Senior

Health & Safety: Not So Safe – I have been at San Diego State-Imperial Valley campus for a year and would not consider it the safest campus. There is typically one guard on duty per shift and could never be found. The parking lot is especially unsafe. It is dark and dangerous. They desperately need more security through out the campus.

3 College Freshman

Majors: Freshman Program. The program I am currently in at school is very helpful because it gives us an opportunity to have closer relationships with our professors and other students.

3 College Freshman

Academics: Small University. Since I attend a small campus, there are not many extra-curriculum activities. However, our professors are excellent and they help us maintain focus by getting us involved.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Nothing to Do. Anyone can agree that the Imperial Valley has nothing to offer. There are no museums, tourist attractions, or even a fancy restaurant. However, it can be one of the safest homes for raising a family.

2 College Senior

Campus Strictness: Do We Have Policies? Not sure about school policies--haven't heard of them

2 College Senior

Diversity: A Stone's Throw from the Border – The majority of students at this campus are of hispanic origin

2 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: If You Have the Money – there are some nice places, but you have to have money and your own car; not much in the way of public transportation, and no nice apartments close to campus

2 College Senior

Parking: There is only one parking lot on campus, which is always full. We have to park outside of the campus on the streets, which can sometimes interfere with residential parking.

2 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Calexico does not have any spectacular restaurants and doesn't have a very nice scenery. There are many fast food places that are affordable, but that can get old.
Our city isn't the wealthiest city out there, which makes us limited to good dining.
