Huntsville is smack-dab in the middle of Texas’ biggest cities: Houston and Dallas. Therefore, Huntsville is usually a pit stop for people traveling from one big metropolis to the other, and the local dining options reflect this. Off Interstate 45, Huntsville is packed with fast food joints and a handful of chain restaurants, including Chili’s, IHOP, and Denny’s. Deeper in town, there is a variety of small restaurants, family-run joints, and bars to grab a bite to eat. There are many places within walking distance of the University, which is great for students when they grow tired of eating the same things on campus. Most restaurants are reasonably priced and provide good value to students. While there is a vast variety of food—burgers, barbecue, bar food, and other American favorites dominate the food choices in the area.
The few diverse choices in the area include Italian, Chinese, Japanese, and Mexican, but there is little to no vegetarian, kosher, or “healthy” options in the immediate area. But, despite not having a wide range of choices in Huntsville, the places to eat off campus are conveniently located, reasonably priced, and will definitely satisfy the taste buds of all students.
