Greek Life: Not every Greek is rude at the school but a majority are. They act like they are better than you because they are a Greek.

Greek Life: Non-Greeks tend to have their own opinion about greeks, but if they love to party they are at a greek party. Other than parties, greek organizations provide connections and give back to their community in great ways through philanthropy. The greek housing depends on the fraternity or sorority that you look for. the larger sororities have houses on campus, while the larger fraternities are off campus.

Greek Life: I personally am part of the Greek Life here at Sam Houston. I truly wish I could change the non-greeks view on us. It is very easy to judge a book by it's cover but not many know what Greek life is all about. We love our community and our campus, we are always doing community service and we are involved in other organizations besides our greek one. We attend and support athletic events, as well as any other event that might be hosted by a non-greek organization. Sororities live on campus on "Sorority Hill" and fraternities live off-campus in their individual houses. Greek life is someone everything should give a chance to!

Greek Life: I cannot even number the times I've heard Greek girls in my class talk about how drunk they got or the guy a girl slept with. Greek life can be a great thing but its often undermined by the ones who take it for granted.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: The Greeks are always at the campus mall and they are very social. You don't have to join them to hang out with them. They have dorms were the Greeks can all live together but mostly they live all over campus.

There are many Greek organizations at SHSU that range from multicultural to academic bases. At Sam, it is common to see student groups, including Greek organizations, spreading their word to those who will listen. The most popular venue for recruiting new members and being active is in front of the Lowman Student Center, where student organizations camp out throughout the day to interact with students. There are several fraternity houses, and for sororities, there are campus houses for sorority members and pledges.

In general, the students don’t know much about the services the Greeks offer unless they are members of these organizations themselves. The perception of the Greek community by the rest of the student body is that they are good for throwing parties and hosting social events, but nothing else. Most students are unaware of the things the Greek organizations do for the community and those in need of assistance, which may be because of a lack of effective representation. Overall, the general view of Greek life at SHSU is fairly positive, but any negative opinions can likely be attributed to the lack of knowledge by the rest of the student body.
