College Junior

Campus Dining: I don't eat on campus, but I've never heard anyone complain about it. As far as I can tell, it seems average.

2 College Freshman

Campus Dining: The Bon Appetite company has to stick to their recipes, but they all taste the same. The food isn't spectacular, but at least there's an ice cream machine. Dinner is unlimited, but the two hour time spans for each meal time is pretty terrible. Breakfast starts at 7:30 till 9, for example.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: It's a fairly small cafeteria, but the variety is pretty good.

1 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Saint Martin's University has only one dining hall/restaurant. Hours aren't always convenient, however there is a little convenient store within the residence halls, that close at 11pm.

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: They definitely have a really good catering service (compared to what i have seen at other colleges anyway) but I think they need to make their Asian food a little bit more authentic.

Students who were around when Sodexo was the food provider will tell you that the food is much better prepared by Bon Appétit. That is probably because the vegetables Bon Appétit uses are organic, fresh, and local. There is an on-site executive chef who produces some of the unique food choices. That being said, the choices become repetitive, and the entrées can be hit or miss. Every week, it is the same dinner menu, which can get tiring at times. There are deli and other bar selections, main entrées, vegetarian and vegan options, and global ethnic food offered during lunch and dinner, sometimes during other meals, too.

Prices are a little on the high side, especially for a salad (they weigh the plate and its contents); a plate of salad can cost almost $10. Yikes! So, without a meal plan (first-year students are required to have a meal plan), your bank account can and will be depleted from buying breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner on campus. Commuter students who want to eat at school usually find a friend with a meal plan because most students do not use all of their board meal credits (for dinner) and flex cash (for lunch, à la carte items, and purchases made at Monk’s Bean Café and Parsons Hall) by the end of the semester/year. Even at a small school, lines and wait times can be long, especially during peak hours, such as lunch.
