College Sophomore

Campus Dining: I do not dine on campus. I do not even live in the same city as the school.

College Sophomore

Majors: I haven't done any of this, because I just recently enrolled and am not at that stage in my education as of yet.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: The only issue that I encountered with getting into my program were the problems I had with my financial aid application being received. Other than that, everything went smoothly due to the helpful staff.

College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I don't know anything about the health & safety of the school's campus. I have never been on the physical campus.

College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: I don't know anything about off campus dining.

College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: I don't know anything about the Local Atmosphere of the school. I don't live in the same city.

College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: I'm not sure about campus strictness. I don't attend school on campus.

College Sophomore

Diversity: I'm not sure how to answer the above questions...I don't know anything about the diversity of the school. I assume that it is well diverse.

College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I do not know anything about campus housing at the school I am attending. I live in my own home and attend classes online via distance learning program.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: The classes are extremely interesting and even make learning the information for my specific major fun.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: The staff, including enrollment counselors assigned to students, are extremely helpful and involved. They make the process as easy as possible for the students. My particular school offers an online learning program, which I am currently enrolled in, so the extra care and help from the counselors is wonderful and greatly appreciated. The class listings for my intended major make all of the classes seem very interesting. The school has taken a new approach to teaching specific classes, and they make learning things fun and interesting.

College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Being that I am a distance education student, I live off-campus in my own home; therefore, I would say that the off-campus housing is very convenient for me...

College Sophomore

Greek Life: Like I've said previously, I answered the questions to the best of my ability, but I am not sure of any kind of social atmosphere ON campus; I am a distance education student.

College Sophomore

Athletics: I answered the questions to the best of my ability, but I am not sure of the athletics department at my current school because I am a distance education student.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: My financial aid application took multiple attempts before it was received by the financial aid office; even after the office received and processed my financial aid, it took days longer than normal to show up in their system which allows me to enroll in classes.

College Sophomore

Nightlife: I am currently enrolled in a distance learning (online) program at Saint Leo University.

3 College Senior

Scholarships: Financial aid department is tough to deal with, many of the scholarships given through the school are for student-athletes, none for the regular student or strict, weird criteria must be met. Its around $30,000 to attend Saint Leo, so be prepared to take out a third party loan for tuition.

Facilities: We do not have a recreation center on campus, the gym for working out is very, very small. And you must find a specific time to go in between the 18 athletic teams throughout the day. There are only two new dormitory's on campus, which fill up the fastest. There are plenty of athletic events, but poor marketing and barely any student involvement at any athletic event. Mostly, which is sad, after classes are done, and by 3-4pm every day, the campus is dead as everyone goes back to their apartments.

2 College Senior

Campus Strictness: Campus is very strict with everything, myself above 21, cannot have a drink on campus. Rules are strictly enforced in the dormitory's, usually there are no warnings (the RA says the meeting in the beginning of the semester this is your warning). If you are looking for the genuine college experience of going out and having fun, Saint Leo is not the place.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: The school doesn't provide any information for off-campus housing, you the student, must do the research. With north Tampa and Wesley Chapel only 10-15 mins away from school, you have better options for housing with all the amenities of shopping, restaurants etc. Campus is isolated, a car is a must to get anywhere.

3 College Junior

Campus Strictness: It a very laid back school as long as you do what your supposed to. After quite hours as long as the music isn't really loud no one will bother you. Unless it's finals week

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: Not much goes on that I know of on campus. I've walked across campus at 3am when I was a freshmen by my self. It cameras everywhere on campus so they can pretty much see everything all the time.

2 College Junior

Nightlife: There isn't really any night life around st leo. There is one bar and a few people that may throw house parties. For the most part you will be driving to Tampa to go out.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: The dorms are okay for the most part. It does cost a lot to live in some of them especially since they don't have a kitchen in them. They just changed the housing process and it made it a lot easier. Most of the dorms are on campus so the walk to classes and other places isn't really that bad.

5 College Senior

Majors: Detailed description of courses helps you find the classes that best fit you

The overall experience at Saint Leo University is decent. You make friends, have fun, go to school, and live in the sun—although the small size does limit some of the resources normal college students have access to. There are no big football games with huge tailgating parties, and you won't see a big school band; nor is SLU the place for your typical social scene run by Greek life. The location is quaint, simple, and actually quite beautiful, but there just isn't a whole lot going on in the area. Yet, at the same time, you are only a 25-minute drive from the city of Tampa. Most students fall in love with the Bay atmosphere while they are here, and the roaring tourist economy of Orlando is only an hour away.

Your experience at this school will be greatly enhanced if you have a car. It's just not the place you can find everything you need within walking distance, and public transportation down here hardly exists. The school is small enough that you can get to know most of the people you will be spending your college career with, classes are not too difficult, and most the the professors really do care about how you perform. All in all, there is fun to be had at Saint Leo, but you may have to find it on your own. If you are the type of person that is outgoing and likes to create your own fun, then this school may be your place. If you're somebody that would rather sit back and let all the fun come to you, then I would suggest choosing a bigger school.
