Scholarships: It was a hassle at first because we were a bit short of what we had expected and still are however we did receive a good amount to help out.

3 Recent Alumnus

Academics: There are many opportunities to broaden your knowledge with high-tech labs, and state of the art equipment to use free of charge if enrolled however, some of the faculty seem unconcerned with students and their aspirations. Especially in the chemistry department. Some faculty members seemed annoyed with certain students.

Academics: Most of the professors are fantastic and I have good relationships with them but some are scatter-brained and edgy.

Local Atmosphere: Great sense of community on campus and it makes you feel at home. I love the people on/off/near campus and they really love us back. The town located outside of us is a quiet very pleasant town with plenty of amenities.

Off-Campus Housing: There are many options for students but they are tough to get. The houses are not 5-Star by any means but they are very suitable for a college student.

Overall Experience: I remember talking to our financial advisor, a coach of mine and the Dean of Students I believe and it was a great easy process, they seemed like they cared about me.

Campus Housing: We switched to an online submission this year because every year has been difficult for students and the faculty however, the internet made things worse this year. A glitch appeared in the software which allowed for multiple double-booked houses. I lost an opportunity for a nice apartment and now will be settling for an expensive dorm for the 3rd year in a row.

Campus Strictness: Very strict, but that is a given. I have heard of stories of abuse of power but I am not sure if those are true.

5 Recent Alumnus

Diversity: Great diversity, we have many Asians, Bahamians, Europeans and you name it! I thoroughly enjoy the diversity, it offers us the opportunity to learn more about other cultures.

3 Recent Alumnus

Majors: Some of the majors are excellent from the teaching to the classrooms and classmates which makes it enjoyable. But, some of the professors are very poor at directing their students. I have been lead in the wrong direction twice with two different majors and it has cost me time.

Majors: I love mathematics, I just switched into it but I am having a lot of trouble with the engineering program here. It is poorly constructed, the courses are matched up with the U of M in MN but the course numbers belong to the U of M, not for my college so I have to ask the engineering director each semester which courses are required because I cannot figure it out on my own. Also during my Biology major my freshman year, my advisor told me to take two classes in the Spring that ended up to be for nursing majors instead of Biology majors.

Health & Safety: They are very strict and they keep the campus pretty safe however, some security members are young college students that do not seem very knowledgeable about their jobs which is frustrating.

Weather: Winters at SJU are very long and cold. The heat in the summer is tough when living in non-air conditioned dorms. But campus is beautiful in any weather

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: With some negotiation, I was able to earn another scholarship. Most of my scholarship is merit-based, which is awarded easily.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: Everything is fine until something doesn't work. IT is pretty below average in communication, performance, and helpfulness.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Enforcement is greater for younger students. Drugs are fairly prevalent due to the ease of attainment and the many locations to use them without detection.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Being in the middle of nowhere, SJU is a very safe campus from outside threats. The only concern here is other students, but it is overall a safe campus.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Housing is pretty good at SJU campus. The only complaint that gets circulated is about the housing selection process. Last year, they switched from credit-based selection to a random pool, upsetting many people and causing a lot of unhappiness as some upper class men ended up living in sophomore dorms and not in junior apartments. For underlclassmen, the process is pretty easy, but as you get older, it gets more frustrating. However, the conditions are find and the location of the dorms is convenient.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: St. John's recruits greatly in the Bahamas and China, leading to multiple Bahamian clubs and Asian societies. Diversity is well displayed and prevalent on our campus.

3 College Junior

Computers: we might need faster software

4 College Junior

Diversity: we have many cultural clubs

4 College Junior

Transportation: The hours many new to be more better

3 College Junior

Weather: When it snows it gets cleaned up quite quickly

4 College Junior

Academics: Our professor work in the field that were majoring in.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: The drug and Alcohol can be found on campusi if that is what you are into. As a Pre-med student I don't have time for that. They do not bother me about that. And my room mate does not either.
