Local Atmosphere: There are shops and restaurants in downtown New Brunswick but Rutgers has created a University where there are plenty things to do on campus. There is night life on college avenue and Rutgers has its own museum open to students. There is always a sporting event to attend and the atmosphere as sporting events is great. Local attitude towards students is great different shops and restaurants accept RU express making it easy for students to pay for different products.

Overall Experience: Some professors are really great and truly care about the students making me love the class and the professor. Other times the professors are arrogant and really have no concern for the students at all. I have had big lectures and small personal classes which makes for a unique learning environment. When I have a class in a huge lecture hall the professor is always free for office hours and willing to help the students. In smaller classes there is a more personal connection between the professor and the students. The professors always hang around after class to offer help and answer questions as well as offering office hours for students.

Overall Experience: Career services is always around the help students with jobs and internships. There is a large alumni network because Rutgers is such a big school. Rutgers alumni are always happy with their employers and always have good things to say about the employer as well as Rutgers for connecting the student with the employer.

Majors: I have yet to have an internship I'm waiting for my junior and senior year. Rutgers has many opportunities for its students to get internships and career services works with the students to get the student an internship. Career services is always sending me emails about internships and job fairs and it is really nice to see that Rutgers is reaching out to the students to help them with their future job needs.

Majors: I have not applied to the program for my major yet. But when applying to Rutgers you must choose a specific school to go to which puts you in a specific program. I am in arts and sciences which gives me many options for a major. There are however many requirements that I must complete for the school of arts and sciences.

Campus Housing: It is really great to have the opportunity to live on campus! Living in the dorms is really nice and convenient and it allows you to meet people and socialize with others and make friends. It is expensive to live on campus so unfortunately I am not living on campus this year. I wish i was though it was a great experience living on campus my freshman year and I am really going to miss it this year.

Nightlife: I do not really go to parties so I have not experienced the night life scene yet. Most parties are in the basement at frat or sorority houses. It gets very hot and over crowded. Some students party a little too hard and that effects their performance in class but others do not see partying every weekend as a big deal.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: The newly renovated livingston campus dining hall is awesome! the food is always delicious and the dining hall is so nice inside! some other dining halls at the university do not have the best food but you can always find something to eat at every dining hall!

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: The resident assistants are in charge of making sure that the residents are not consuming alcohol and drugs as well as obeying quiet hours. Sometimes you may get an RA who is very lenient with the residents and other times the RA will enforce policies making for a peaceful and comforting living environment.

Health & Safety: As long as I am on the campus I feel safe especially since the bus drivers are always in direct contact with the Rutgers police department. I would not feel safe straying off campus into downtown new brunswick especially at night. Some spots on campus are not very well lit but for the most part there is good lighting and blue buttons for emergencies.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: The student centers are newly renovated there are places to eat and study within the center! The libraries are fully equipped with computer and printers for students to use. Computer labs conveniently stay open late for students who wish to study later at night which is great! there are plenty of places to hangout on campus as well as different activities sponsored by Rutgers programming association! I have been to plenty events sponsored by Rutgers program and they are so much fun!

Athletics: It is so much fun to attend the sporting events at Rutgers. Many students come out and everyone gets really excited for the game whether it's basketball, football, or any other sport! The school has so much spirit and it makes for a great crowd at sporting events!

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I did not receive enough financial aid to pay for college therefore I had to take out a loan in order to pay the rest of the tuition.

Greek Life: Greek houses are definitely where some of the best parties are, and the presence of sororities and frats is definitely felt on campus. However I don't think there is any animosity between non-Greeks and Greeks, it's just another facet of campus.

Scholarships: Rutgers has given me little to no financial aid, even though I need it and my GPA is high enough that I feel like I should have been awarded something. I'm also convinced that the DMV and Financial Aid use the same recruitment service.

Campus Dining: The variety of food at Rutgers is great! Everything from burgers, to salads, to breakfast foods. The one caveat that I have with Rutgers dining is takeout. Very seldom are the takeout options healthy, and when you have a class that ends at the same time the dining halls do, forcing you to get takeout daily, it can be daunting.

5 College Senior

Athletics: Rutgers was just made part of the Big Ten and that is reflected both within the school spirit and recreational facilities.

Local Atmosphere: Aside from the campus itself, there isn't much to do in New Brunswick. At least, nothing that I or my friends have found appealing. It's a direct result of why there is such a party culture, because there is literally nothing else to do. Crime in the area is pretty bad too. I wouldn't feel safe walking around by myself at night.

The courses are tough at Rutgers. TAs mainly don't speak English, and you can never find a parking spot. However, despite these things, after the first week of your freshman year, you realize Rutgers is different than other schools. Diversity is definitely something that makes Rutgers stand out-the friends you will meet at Rutgers will make you realize that you like Indian music and Persian food, and
you'll go to friends houses during their Jewish holidays. Students will learn to live with all different people, despite different backgrounds, and smile and laugh the nights away in the dorms.

It is a very large university, and professors won't realize or care if you are failing a course. However, students remark that they wanted to attend a large university because it makes them grow up. At Rutgers, no one holds your hand as you pick courses (and there's 4,000 to choose from), and they don't make sure you are taking the courses necessary for your major. Everything is done by the actions of the students. If you want real life experiences instead of a college resembling your high school, you'll find it here.
