2 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: It's college. There are drugs, alcohol, and parties. Rowan doesn't really seem to be trying to stop them though.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: The strictness at Rowan varies depending on the situation. They are very strict with the honor code, and have expelled students because of plagiarism. They are fairly lenient if you want to have people stay over in your dorms, and as long as you and your roommate are 21, you can have alcohol.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Not really that strict actually.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: The school is heavy on class attendance. If you miss two lab sessions for chemistry you fail the course. All of my teachers take attendance daily and factor it into your grade. Students can fail a course for handing in their own paper twice. Plagiarism and cheating is strict. Free Speech is banned everywhere on campus for students except a small patio. However random men can protest and yell hate speech towards students walking to class. Side walk chalk is banned, which is a good example of how ridiculously strict the school is towards its student body. Drugs will get you immediately kicked out of housing. Rowan tries to make the college experience very similar to high school, no rights, no freedom.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Attendance to classes is dependent on the professor and how they want to handle that.

Rowan is pretty lenient about the rules when it comes to misdemeanors. However, if a student actually commits a crime on campus, they are dealt with—as they should be. Overall, though, Rowan doesn’t have too many rules, and of the rules that do exist, most of them are enforced because they contribute to campus safety and security, which is a great thing.

For the most part, campus security understands that kids will be kids. However, if serious issues do occur, the RoPo will certainly crack down. But while Rowan isn't the strictest of campuses, drugs and alcohol are not tolerated in dorm rooms and campus apartments. If you fancy the occasional breaking of a small rule, you will find a comfortable existence at Rowan. And, in general, a student’s individual experience with strictness will depend greatly on the leniency—or lack thereof—of his or her RA.
