Academic Experience: Academically, I had an overall good experience with classes. I pushed myself to work on as many mechanical projects as possible. Teachers will push those who strive and they are better off for it. However, one good teacher lost a job over differences with more lazy students for pushing them. Other good teachers will not risk that so if you want to get the most out of your education, show teachers that you are willing to be pushed and they share trade secrets and you get the most out of the RTI diesel program

Career Services: As part of the most recent graduating class for the diesel program, I have been appalled by the lack of consideration from the administrative staff. Job fairs are offered, but hardly any companies in attendance are actually hiring, or at least not hiring for positions that RTI graduates are qualified for. I did not go to RTI so I could install tires or drive trucks but rather to work on them and fix them. I was also taken out of an important class to attend this "required" job fair. Job fairs should be about the potential opportunities for the students, not advertisement for the school. I can't knock them for offering the job fairs though, as some students will at least need the interview and application experience.
The resume class was a positive experience however. The resume teacher offered very good, trade-related advice on creating the best resume style for your field and based on your credentials. They also give students a summary of your best attributes and strengths which I found helpful in "selling my skills" in cover letters and interviews.

Academic Experience: The diesel technician program is pretty good. You get out of it what you put into it. As long as you stay on top of class discussions, you will pass all your tests and any homework assignments (there are not many take home assignments). Focus on in-class projects and strive to excel there. Be a part of as many difficult mechanic jobs as possible; successful project experience in the classroom gives invaluable experience for future jobs, and you won't be fired for anything going wrong in the classroom. Better to learn while in the forgiving learning environment.

Academic Experience: It has been awhile since I was a student and the individualized attention along with the patience of the faculty makes the transition very solid.

Academic Experience: So far, I applaud the schools focus on providing their students with a solid career path for success.
