3 College Freshman

Nightlife: Not a lot to do in a small town

3 College Junior

Nightlife: There are a few bars that have weekday specials but most of them are a hefty walk away.

3 College Senior

Nightlife: I am not a big night life person. There is plenty to do and many safe and convenient ways to get to where you need to be

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: Parties consist of basically lots of people drinking in a hall, filing through rooms which play music. Booze is always free, though it is hard to get into parties if you do boot know the people who go. However if you make some friends it's pretty easy to go.

3 College Senior

Nightlife: Overall, the nightlife is pretty good, especially for a small school. There is always a lot of stuff happening on campus, so there are opportunities to go out. The bar scene isn't the greatest, but it does decent for a small town. To me, it is more about the people you are with, not if you are on-campus or off-campus. For being a small school, Ripon tries its best to give us some nightlife fun.

When it comes to Ripon's nightlife, the options, at first glance, may seem limited. In true Ripon fashion, it's what you make of it. Ripon is a residential campus, so about 90 percent of students lives on campus. Greek life is also all residential; all of the partying takes place on campus. And yes, there are parties, and there are definitely RAs and security to keep things more or less under control. There are several bars in Ripon that 21-and-up students will frequent. They often head to the bars in a pack, and students stick together and look out for each other. Drinking and driving is not a big issue on Ripon's campus because just about everything (residence halls, bars, convenience stores) is within walking distance.

In college, if one looks for it, it isn't hard to find alcohol, whether or not you're underage. It becomes a personal choice, which is often part of going to college. You have to learn to make personal decisions like that. There is not, however, great pressure to drink if you choose to abstain. It is still fun to go to parties if you choose not to drink. For the most part, Ripon College students understand that it is a personal choice and won't give you any grief for choosing one way or the other. There are also lots of activities planned outside of parties and drinking. Ripon College has an active programming board called SMAC (Student Media & Activities Committee), which brings comedians, magicians, hypnotists, speakers, movies, musical acts, and beyond to campus on a regular basis. If you're worried about the party atmosphere or being pressured to drink on campus, put it behind you. There are tons of students who choose not to drink and still have an awesome time!
