4 College Junior

Facilities: Ripon is the birth place of the republican party; it's in a small town; the town's atmosphere is very nice and the people on and off campus are friendly.

4 College Junior

Facilities: There are many things that are offered for students to do. There usually isn't a time when there is nothing going on.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: Student life on campus is pretty great. Our library goes underground three stories, and has free printing. However, there are still alternatives to the library such as the collaborative learning center where papers can get proofread. Campus events are fairly fun but not well attended as most people just want to go party.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: Our academic programs overal are great. Our professors are definitely willing to go the extra mile to help us succeed. Our pre-med and science program are amazing. Our acceptance into med school is twice the national average at 80%, and it is easy to become an EMT for the city of Ripon to gain experience in the medical field. In some of our science departments you can even work with professors to get things published in academic journals.

3 College Junior

Facilities: I think the traditions and events are great but there is very limited places to study and just hang out

The campus is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places in Ripon. It is very well-kept, and the lawns and walkways are all well-groomed. There is a lot of green grass, and trees are abundant. In the fall, when the colors on the trees change, campus is all the better for it, and in winter, when the snow sticks to the trees, it is no less picturesque! The campus also decorates for the holidays by putting wreaths on the doors of the buildings and decorated trees up around campus. There are many places in which students can hang out or do schoolwork, and all are well-kept and plentiful in resources. The Harwood Memorial Union has the Pub in it, with food and comfy places to sit and eat or study, as well as pool tables, the mail center, and some staff offices.

Lane Library is spacious and well-stocked with many places to study either in groups or individually. There are computers to use, helpful and friendly librarians to assist you, and enough books to occupy anyone and fit any research needs. And, if the specific book you're looking for isn't in stock? The librarians can find it for you at another library through the inter-library exchange. The CLC (Collaborative Learning Center) is open six days a week and provides a comfy spot for studying. There is always at least one mentor on duty to help proofread papers and critique presentations. There are also several computers, free printing, couches, and free hot chocolate or tea available! What more could you ask for when you're studying? Another common spot for students is in the Student Activities Office where there are computers and art supplies available for student groups to come and study or make signs and posters. The radio is always tuned to WRPN, and the people are always friendly! Ripon does a good job of maintaining its facilities and keeping them up-to-date and current.

School Slang
  • CLC: Collaborative Learning Center, a house on campus with computers and places to study as well a mentor to go over papers and presentations
  • The Quads: The series of four upperclassman buildings: Mapes, Brockway, Bovay, and Anderson
  • ComedySportz: ComedySportz is an improv comedy group that comes to campus the night before classes start every year to put on a campus-wide show. They also come back for Senior Week and do a show just for the seniors.
  • Joyce to the World: President Joyce and his wife Lynn always put on a program the Wednesday before finals start in December, and they read "T'was the Night Before Christmas," and an a cappella group usually performs. There are crafts, cookies, hot chocolate, and cider, too!
  • Springfest: An end-of-the-year celebration with a concert, inflatables, good times, a bit of drinking, and lots of friends
Urban Legends
There are legends of ghosts around campus. Some say that there is a ghost in Tri-Dorms, and others say there is one in the CLC. The campus is right next to a graveyard, so many are superstitious about that, too.
Favorite Things To Do
Students on campus like to hang out and chill. You will always be able to find students enjoying coffee on couches on the first floor of the Commons, or in the library or Pub with their laptops. When the weather gets nice, students soak up the sun on the lawns outside of the residence halls. Sometimes you will see people tossing a Frisbee or football or playing volleyball on the sand court in the middle of the Quads. The common theme is that students tend to stay on campus and enjoy all it has to offer.

Clubs and Organizations on Campus
Greek life, the Black Student Union (BSU), and the Student Media & Activities Committee (SMAC) are the most active groups on campus. However, all groups have a following of some sort with a few dedicated members. Just about all students on campus will get involved in at least one club or organization during their four years on campus. Many get involved in many more and go on to hold leadership or executive positions within the clubs and organizations. Get involved!
