Located in Mahwah, one would never guess that Ramapo College is really just outside of New York City; its peaceful and practically rural (horses down the road!) suburban setting makes the school quiet and secluded. However, with its accessibility to many roadway routes, Ramapo is far from remote. There is more than one train station close by, and the College runs shuttle buses to and from campus daily, with a schedule available online and posted throughout campus.

Ramapo College is nestled in the Ramapo Mountains, ensuring a hilly terrain; students (especially those with disabilities) should make note that getting around campus can be difficult during the cold winter months, when the College tends to get snow. The Ramapo Reservation is a mere five minutes from campus, giving students the opportunity to get away from campus and explore nature on the trail. Route 202 provides some of the basic needs, with a few convenience stores and fast food restaurants, but students should familiarize themselves with Route 17, as it has a much wider variety and provides a path to both Garden State Plaza and the Palisades Mall.
