4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: If you dont mess up, they wont mess you up. Its pretty easy to stay on their good side, just dont give them a reason to know you

1 College Senior

Campus Strictness: Public safety is constantly looking to get a quick buck out of handing out violations like candy.

1 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Public Safety do not know how to do their jobs. Intimidate students and are not lenient.

College Student

Campus Strictness: I don't really know much about how the rules are enforced for residents. I just know that you shouldn't ever set off the fire alarm. They literally will make you pay.

2 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: public safety at first wasnt too involved with anything but then they shut down parties now.

Campus Security has been a major sticking point for many of the residents of Ramapo College, particularly for those students old enough to drink legally in the alcohol-allowed housing. There are only two areas on campus where alcohol is allowed in the living areas: The Village, provided each resident is of legal drinking age, and Laurel Hall, on the top two floors. Everywhere else on campus, alcohol is prohibited, which leads to problems with students enjoying time outside of their apartments with alcohol, particularly in the communal quads outside The Village. Campus Security also strictly enforces the parking policy, where one must have a sticker on display at all times in the window of the vehicle registered to the student. If not, the vehicle will be ticketed, and repeat offenders will find their car booted.

An area of annoyance for some students is the gate at the entrance of the College. If students are living in Bischoff, Mackin, the Overlook, or the CPAs, they will be required to go through a security booth. If a student does not have an ID to swipe or if somebody in front of the line does not have an ID, he or she has to fill out a form for the security officer in the booth. This takes time and can result in long lines. Public Safety officers are available 24 hours, 7 days a week, and will generally respond to any complaint or concern in a reasonable amount of time.
