The city of Radford has had public transit since 2011. Radford Transit serves both Radford University and the city. During the University's fall and spring semesters, Route 10 services the bus stops around the perimeter of campus every 10 minutes and provides service to near by off-campus housing every 20 minutes. Radford Transit provides late-night service for the campus area until about 2:30 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. The bus also provides hourly service to the entire city of Radford. In addition, Radford Transit's Route 40 provides transportation to the New River Valley Mall in Christiansburg and Virginia Tech's Squires Student Center in Blacksburg Thursday through Saturday.

In terms of long-distance travel, the closest airport is 45 minutes away, and you will definitely need a car or gracious ride from a friend to get there. There are no shuttle runs from the school to the airport or the Greyhound station in Roanoke. There is a home ride program offered for students who live along a certain route, but the timing is inconvenient and the tickets are often expensive.
