4 College Freshman

Majors: the education program has a few requirements like test that must be taken and volunteer hours and you must have a certain GPA

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: if you are a girl you should always walk with someone else but for the most part campus is pretty safe

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: almost everyone is in greek life but the people that arent, arent seen any differently

3 College Freshman

Athletics: our teams are pretty good, bu not very many people go to the games

4 College Senior

Drug Safety: Students are required to take a class prior to attending the university and the police are very strict when it comes to partying, being drunk in public, and drunk driving.

4 College Senior

Campus Housing: I loved dorm life and my RA was the best. They have so many activities to make you feel welcome and not miss home so much.

4 College Senior

Majors: They have a surpisingly diverse selection of majors for such a small school. Even if they don't have a specific major, such as pre-veterinary, they have excellent advisers that create a stellar curriculum to prepare students for admissions to graduate programs.

4 College Senior

Majors: The only complaint I have is the run down building, but they are constructing a new science building at the moment. The teachers are passionate, advisers truly care, and have a wide array of classes available.

3 College Senior

Greek Life: Students who join Greek Life love it but they have little influence on the community otherwise.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: There are only a few spots to go out and get drinks with friends. After awhile these places do become a huge part of your college experience and once you're 21, there are drink specials to be found almost every night!

4 College Senior

Scholarships: My first three years at Radford, I received a great deal of monetary support. They were VERY slow at dispersing the funds but for a small school there are a surprising amount of scholarship opportunities.

2 College Senior

Weather: Often very cold, rainy, or snowing. However, the summer is wonderful in Radford!

3 College Senior

Athletics: There is some promotion of athletic events and a few sports receive a great deal of monetary support but there is not much team spirit.

3 College Senior

Diversity: There are many international students that increase the diversity, however, I wish there was more diversity!

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I always have a feeling of safety & if I feel sick the health center is right here on campus, which is extremely convenient.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: Many different opportunities to join Greek Life. Plenty of housing as well.

3 College Freshman

Weather: Very windy and gets cold very fast. You have to wear plenty of layers in the winter.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There aren't many places but still a good variety at a reasonable price.

4 College Freshman

Academics: I hear many great things about the Psychology program here. Workload is not too much to ask for and the curriculum is very easy to follow.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Not many places to go but, if you do want to actually go out and do something, it's not too far away to drive.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: Buses come every ten minutes to take you to many different places.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: People seem to be very into the sports here and the gyms are open for people who are not athletic.

Radford University offers an incredibly unique experience in a small-town environment. The small size of the University allows for a much more personal connection with the faculty and other students. Professors make it their mission to create an engaging learning environment, going above and beyond when a student makes the effort to ask for help. Professors are more than willing to write recommendations, assist in classroom issues, and be fantastic sounding boards for academic advancement. The goal of Radford academia is to better the students at all costs. The social life is also a bonus of attending such a small school. With a small population, the majority of students knows one another fairly well. They party together, go to classes together, and spend quality time together during campus activities. The nightlife is a legend among the colleges of Virginia, and the parties are incredible. But, even if you don't like to drink until you can't stand up, there are plenty of things to do like bowling, playing pool or pingpong, or checking out a movie.

The town of Radford is small, but within miles of several hot spots for action. Virginia Tech is 15 minutes away, Roanoke is less than an hour, and there are several mountainous hiking trails and camping areas nearby. What it boils down to is that Radford University is a "what you make of it" experience. If students put in the effort to go to class and engage in out-of-class activities, their time at Radford will be incredible. The friends you make will be lasting connections that continue long after graduation. At the start of college, every student is handed the opportunity to make something great out of their experience, and Radford provides many tools along the way to help students ensure it is worthwhile.
