3 College Junior

Campus Strictness: I am at school to learn. Students get into trouble and off track to their goals when they disregard the rules. Most infractions aid students in getting back on track

2 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Students dress fairly casually in jeans, sweatshirts, t-shirts. Some look more professional in skirts, boots, button down shirts and blazers.

2 College Junior

Athletics: The student recreation center is fairly new and the facility is clean and up to date. It is located conveniently on campus.

Scholarships: I have not received any scholarships or financial aid. The FAFSA has determined that my parents make too much money to qualify. But I think their system is faulty. My parents don't have tons of money to pay my tuition.

Academics: There is a wide variety of courses offered within my Major. I have also selected a minor and am enjoying the course offerings available. I transferred to PSU from community college and the courses at PSU are much more varied.

2 College Junior

Academics: I have been pleased with the variety of courses. But using the online catalog is not easy. I have found several areas to each lunch and study between my classes.

3 College Junior

Computers: I have used the labs, especially for printing. included with tuition each quarter is 500 printed pages, definitely enough--unless you're writing a huge research paper or master's thesis

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: non-campus housing is readily available. Prices and lease length vary. Parking is typical urban setting, difficult to find and usually requires a fee.

2 College Junior

Weather: Portland can be rainy. But all that rain brings beautiful green trees and shrubs. Summer temperatures are rarely too hot, winter temps are rarely freezing.

3 College Junior

Facilities: Campus is architecturally interesting. There are many places for students to meet and study. There is a nice plaza with water features. There are also at least 2 rooftop patios with benches, table, umbrellas 4 or 5 stories above the street. 4 buildings are connected with elevated, covered bridges, so you don't have to go out in the rain.

Greek Life: PSU is mostly a commuter campus and the Greek system is not much of a presence. There are many other campus clubs, based on activities and interests.

2 College Junior

Transportation: I usually use public buses to travel 15 miles to campus. This trip requires a transfer/wait for 20+ minutes, resulting in nearly a 1 1/2 hour one-way commute. Parking lots on/near campus are about $10.00/day and can be full, depending on the time of day. Because the campus is in the city, parking is expensive and spots are difficult to find. But, being in the city means jobs/internships are available near campus.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: I left my laptop on an outdoor bench and campus security found it and called me. On another day I also found a laptop left near the business center and turned it in to the office. Because it gets dark while I am still in class, I walk through campus in the dark without much concern.

Local Atmosphere: Portland is a major port city. Portland Metro area has several other colleges: Lewis and Clark College, University of Portland, and Concordia. Also located in nearby towns: Pacific University, and George Fox. Portland State University campus includes several blocks of treed park within the urban setting. Portland Art Museum is also adjacent to campus. Portland State University has a Viking football team and basketball team. City streetcar service travels right through the campus and there are bus lines and MAX train lines that serve the campus.

Campus Dining: There is way better food off campus.

3 College Sophomore

3 College Sophomore

3 College Sophomore
