College Sophomore

Greek Life: We don't have frats or sororities!!!!

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Drug use is not really apparent on campus. I guess that's a pretty good thing.

3 College Sophomore

Computers: We have a good amount of computers. You just have to be in the labs at a good time, otherwise all of the computers are taken.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Crimes do occur around campus because we are downtown. There are plenty of security guards and cops, but it is still bothersome at times.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There aren't many options for off-campus dining. We have market square, which is nice, but other than that you have to go to oakland for more food.

2 College Sophomore

Weather: During the fall and spring, I enjoy Pittsburgh, but during the winter everyone gets depressed. The winters are way too long and cold here.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: We live downtown so its good that security strives to keep strangers out of the resident buildings, but its also a tad annoyinh to have to check in or show your ID every time you enter.

2 College Sophomore

Nightlife: The parties are not really parties.. Its not like a typical college experience

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are plenty of cheap as well as expensive restaurants within walking distance of the school. Majority of restaurants do not offer student discounts. There is a wide variety of places including chains and local places to eat.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: Southside and where many of the bars are located and are easily accessible by bus. There are a few clubs and bars right downtown. Most parties are found in Oakland which you can get to by free shuttle ride.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I personally would not like to live off campus. Most students who live off campus live in Oakland. The houses are very rundown but cheap. It is also not very safe. However, the shuttle service is available in Oakland to shuttle students to campus for classes. There are however apartments available downtown near the school. They are a little more expensive but they are nice, clean, and safe.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: When is comes to drugs and alcohol I feel very safe. Majority of the students are smart and responsible when it comes to drug and alcohol use. However, campus police is always on the lookout and regulates well. Peer pressure is not a problem. If one doesn't drink or use drugs no one treats them differently.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Point Park is very diverse. I am constantly around people with different backgrounds. Sense the school is so diverse, I feel a great sense of acceptance.

5 College Freshman

Facilities: Student life at Point Park University is open and available. There is always something going on and the campus makes social scoops well known via flyers and emails. I love the athletic center and am there almost every day. Everything I need for school and/or recreational use is convenient and in walking distance.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Campus strictness is average. I feel safe and regulated while not feeling like the campus is overbearing. The campus is lenient on most rules and allows me to feel more independent.

4 College Freshman

Computers: I have my own computer and printer. However the availability to computers and printing is very convenient. I do not receive wireless access in my room meaning I have to use an ethernet chord. However, connection is extremely fast.

4 College Freshman

Weather: Obviously living in Pittsburgh the weather is cold during the winter meaning lots of snow. However, the city is very good at salting the roads and clearing the snow to make the environment safe for people to get to classes.

College Freshman

Greek Life: Point Park University does not have Greek Life

Transportation: Point Park offers a free shuttle service for students which is very convenient for students living off campus. On the weekends the shuttles take students to different locations such as Target, Whole Foods, The Water Front, etc. The shuttles also offer $5 rides to the airport for breaks. As Point Park is located in the city, local transportation is extremely convenient and easy to navigate. There are always buses to take you wherever one may need to go. With a Point Park Student ID, bus fare is only $1 which is very convenient. The Train Station is also available for longer distance trips as well as a Mega Bus Stop for students traveling home who live relatively close.

Academics: The Conservatory of the Performing Arts at Point Park University is very strong. I am a dancer in the conservatory with a concentration in Jazz. The dance program is one of the top programs in the country, and even the world. I am learning and training vigorously each day and becoming stronger as a dancer in order to be a professional performer after graduation. The facilities of the dance studios are unbelievable and offer top notch opportunities for dance students. The studios are huge and immaculate, offering a creative environment for the dancers. I am very pleased with the program here at Point Park University.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I feel extremely safe on campus. Most everything I need is in relative walking distance to the school so I never have to go to far to go out to eat, get groceries, go shopping, etc. I am also notified from campus police via text and email whenever there is a campus alert. It is reassuring to know that the police are aware and on the lookout for harm to the students, as the school is located in a downtown area.

3 College Freshman

Computers: Computer labs are pretty decent.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are a variety of places to eat throughout Pittsburgh

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: Mostly dance clubs for Point Park students

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Most students choose to live in Oakland if they live off campus
