Nightlife: Social life at Pitzer is great. The set up of the Claremont consortium is such that you have small classes, but just about every week there is a 5C party where all schools come together and you socialize with many different people! Of course, there are lots of smaller gatherings if you aren't into the big scene.

Niche User

Nightlife: On-campus parties are usually really good, besides Pitzer parties, there are always things going on around the other campus; there is never nothing to do.

Niche User

Nightlife: Parties on campus are fun (at least for the fist two years), and there are usually a couple every weekend. There are a couple of bars that everyone goes to-the Black Watch and the Press. As far as clubs go, there is not much out here, but there are fun places in LA.

Niche User

Nightlife: Parties are okay as far as they go. Five colleges mean more parties and variety. There are always the Mudd parties to go to, which are usually wilder and wetter.

Niche User

Nightlife: Basically, the social life is on campus. There aren't really any frats, so people are welcome at all parties. Although, there are some that just aren't worth going to.

Niche User

Nightlife: 5C parties are usually well attended and frequently feature free alcohol. For really good nightlife, though, you need to leave Claremont.

Niche User

Nightlife: I have friends that ask me what there is to do at Pitzer since it is so small. My answer is just about anything. There is always a party somewhere or some activity being put on by one of the colleges. I don't think I have ever been bored in my two years here.

Niche User

Greek Life: Pitzer has absolutely no Greek life; it's a good thing as far as I am concerned. Parties are never exclusive, and there are lots of little suite parties.

Niche User

Greek Life: It doesn't exist, so definitely a plus.

Niche User

Greek Life: There is not exactly Greek life to speak of. I think there's one `frat.'

Niche User

Greek Life: Ha, Greek life-we went to Pitzer to get away from that.

Niche User

Greek Life: Greek life is non-existent, though there are some underground frats.

Niche User

Greek Life: Pitzer and the Claremont colleges are non-Greek-thank the lord!

Niche User

Greek Life: There is no Greek life except the NAPI's, which is a frarority. They are okay, great parties though.

Niche User

Greek Life: There is no Greek Life.

Niche User

Greek Life: I still don't know if we have a Greek life.

Drug Safety: Pitzer has pretty much a `don't ask, don't tell' policy. If you are smart and quiet about it, you can do what you want; however, I have never felt pressure to use anything I don't want to here.

Niche User

Drug Safety: A lot of people drink and many people smoke pot.

Niche User

Drug Safety: There is harder stuff around, I am sure, but all you ever hear about is pot.

Niche User

Drug Safety: There is not much of a drug scene. It's the usual pot and alcohol with very few hard drugs.

Niche User

Drug Safety: There is a drug scene, but there is no pressure to participate.

Niche User

Drug Safety: If you are looking for it, it's around; if you aren't, you can avoid it.

Niche User

Drug Safety: The drug scene is mostly personal. if you do it, it's cool; if not, cool.

Niche User

Drug Safety: It is easy to fall into the alcohol/drug scene, especially if you find someone to do it with you. I do not think this is unique to Pitzer, though. I think it is distinctive of college in general. It is really easy to stay away if you want.

Niche User

Drug Safety: Every college has a drug scene. I feel like it is not out of control, nor is it drug free.

Pitzer is a truly wonderful place filled with people who want to make a difference and embrace change. There does not exist one specific Pitzer student; rather, once on campus, you will be welcomed by a myriad of different personalities, opinions, and likes and dislikes. If there were to be a general consensus about the students at Pitzer, it would be that they are driven individuals who seek to make the world a better place. But Pitzer students could not do what they do alone. The student body is a reflection of a much bigger entity: the faculty, staff, administration, groundskeepers, dining hall workers, and everyone else who makes a contribution to the school help to unify it and make it the amazing place the students know it as today. The school has grown so much, and it has only been around since 1963! One can only imagine what immense changes are to come.

Most students enjoy their time at Pitzer and the Claremont Consortium as a whole, though some common complaints include the cost, the lack of school spirit, and the pretty tame party scene. If you look past all of this, though, you will inevitably see that being given the chance to study at Pitzer is the opportunity of a lifetime. Pitzer is not your average higher education institution; it offers unique opportunities such as traveling with your professor to do research or working closely with the administration to make the school the place you want it to be. You may come here for an education, but in reality, you're going to walk away with a whole lot more.
