Guys & Girls: So many girls here are natural beauties. They're stylish and unique. We call it "Pitzer pretty" because they're not the typical "hot" sorority girls but they're beautiful and real and different. Boys are still boys. They're still growing, physically and emotionally. There are lots of fun parties on campus across the Claremont Colleges, like Groove at the Grove. There are as many serious relationships as random hookups.

Campus Dining: There's a Lot of Choice – Dining hall food tends to be very repetitive, but it's great because you can go to other colleges to eat any meal with your meal plan. All the dining halls are buffet style, so you can eat as much as you want. You also get flex dollars depending on the meal plan you're on - these can be used to buy food from any of the stores on campus. The Claremont Colleges offer a lot of choice, all within walking distance. Everything is very convenient.

Weather: Sunny and Warm – I came to Pitzer in the hope of escaping the dreary, snowy winters with which I had lived my entire life. The weather is almost always warm and sunny even in December and students constantly take advantage by hanging out at the pool or at the mounds. There is some smog in times of fires and heavy pollution in LA, but it usually clears up in the afternoon when it is present.

Computers: Bring Your Own Computer – It's definitely best if you bring your own computer, but there is a computer lab. However they just made it much smaller, so it can get a little crowded in there. Pitzer has wi-fi all over campus and in the classrooms, and the network speed is pretty fast and reliable. You can print from the computer lab, and remote printing is also available.

Health & Safety: Pretty Safe – First off, Claremont is a town where there is very little crime and you can feel super, super safe. Campus is the same - I think people tend to respect each other enough. Sometimes a bike will get stolen, or someone will graffiti a wall or something. Campus security is constantly patrolling the grounds, though, and I've never felt insecure.

Academics: Learning Is Fun – I'm a psychology and gender/feminist studies double major. Pitzer's psychology department is pretty awesome; the latter not so much. Pitzer professors tend to be very laid back, depending on who you get. They're very easy to approach and are super willing to give you one-on-one time if you need it. The best thing about Pitzer is that it is surrounded by the other Claremont Colleges, so you can takes classes from other schools. Professors from all the colleges tend to be very approachable and seem to really care about your academic well-being. Depending on your professor, a lot of professors are also strong advocates of thinking outside the box. Reading can be a bit heavy, and some professors don't seem to understand you have other classes besides theirs! For the most part, though, I feel like the education is worth the tuition.

Weather: You Experience All 4 Seasons in 1 Day! The weather is amazing. Always sunny, always the perfect temperature. It puts the students and faculty in such a great mood. I love being able to go tan outside on the Mounds in the middle of December.

Parking: There are parking spots available.... Freshman usually don't have cars but there are ways to get around the authoritative system so that you can have a car. I am a freshman and I have lots of friends that have applied for a parking pass and the school will give it to them. If you can't find a parking spot on Pitzer Campus, you always can find visitor parking at the other schools.

Weather: Highs and Lows, Nothing in Between – It's December 2nd it's it's still about 70 degrees outside. The weather tends to focus on the extremes - in the summer, around May-September it can be as high as 110 degrees; at nights in the colder months (November-March) it dips to around 40. There isn't really a fall or spring in Claremont; the weather tends to go from suddenly cold to suddenly hot. Claremont's really dry, but when it does rain (maybe a few days out of the whole year), it pours. Bring some sunglasses and a lot of sunscreen.

Weather: Sunshine Is Nice but Can Get Boring – The sun is nice but sometimes I miss the seasons.

Greek Life: Greek Life would not be compatable with the student body here. Without greek life, students are able to mingle with everyone, it makes the social community more accepting to all students.

Parking: used to be a problem. parking has been fine lately. you're never looking for a spot... just looking for the closest one.

Greek Life: there is not much greek life because we don't need a greek system

Greek Life: What's awesome about Pitzer is that there is no Greek life - that's not something we do. Pitzer is so small it already has a sense of community without feeling like it needs to be forced.

Weather: Even Sunny in December! The weather here is great.

Campus Housing: Life on Campus Is Awesome! Living on campus builds a really strong sense of community here at Pitzer College. In my opinion, all the dorms are worth living in. Holden and Mead halls give you the best old-school Pitzer vibe - there's something really endearing about the age factor. I'm not a fan of the newer dorms that were constructed recently. I feel they're a little sterile and demonstrate how Pitzer's trying too hard to become the other colleges.

Parking: Most underclassmen don't have cars but if it is necessary it can be arranged. There is no real need to have a car because it is very likely you will be satisfied with the activities put on by the Claremont colleges. There are plenty of parking spots if you have a parking pass.

Scholarships: If You're Not Diverse, Forget It. Pitzer isn't need blind, so most of the students who go here are paying almost full-tuition. They tend to give out all the financial aid to the students who embody Pitzer's idea of diversity.

Nightlife: Lots of House Parties – Quite a few Pitzer students live off campus, so there are off-campus parties almost every weekend. Some of our dorms are suite-style, so there are often parties going on in suites as well. There are not many bars and the clubs are non-existent.

Facilities: Social Responsibility – Everyone at Pitzer wants to change the world and save all the people in need. This does not necessarily mean students actually participate in any humanitarian work. Everyone has to do some sort of community volunteering, but outside of that, social action is not as wide spread as one might think.

Off-Campus Dining: Limited and Expensive – There are quite a few places in Claremont to eat, but most of them aren't very good and are pretty expensive. It's hard to get a meal for under $8. There are not any places that offer student discounts either.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: Academic Oppurtunities – The good thing about Pitzer is that you can take classes at the other four colleges, eat at the other college dining halls, and be a part of a small community, but also a bigger community with the other colleges.

Weather: Always Sunny – It is nearly always sunny, and above 60 at Pitzer. It is cooler at night, especially during the winter, but not so much that you need a winter jacket.

Pitzer is a truly wonderful place filled with people who want to make a difference and embrace change. There does not exist one specific Pitzer student; rather, once on campus, you will be welcomed by a myriad of different personalities, opinions, and likes and dislikes. If there were to be a general consensus about the students at Pitzer, it would be that they are driven individuals who seek to make the world a better place. But Pitzer students could not do what they do alone. The student body is a reflection of a much bigger entity: the faculty, staff, administration, groundskeepers, dining hall workers, and everyone else who makes a contribution to the school help to unify it and make it the amazing place the students know it as today. The school has grown so much, and it has only been around since 1963! One can only imagine what immense changes are to come.

Most students enjoy their time at Pitzer and the Claremont Consortium as a whole, though some common complaints include the cost, the lack of school spirit, and the pretty tame party scene. If you look past all of this, though, you will inevitably see that being given the chance to study at Pitzer is the opportunity of a lifetime. Pitzer is not your average higher education institution; it offers unique opportunities such as traveling with your professor to do research or working closely with the administration to make the school the place you want it to be. You may come here for an education, but in reality, you're going to walk away with a whole lot more.
