Computers: You absolutely need a computer. There is a lab but you need one for all of your classes.

Diversity: While it is predominately white, upper middle class kids, everyone is extremely accepting of everyone else and always very concerned with being politically correct and open to everyone.

Local Atmosphere: There's not a whole lot to do off campus in Claremont but the village does offer some cute little shops and restaurants. Also, LA is only a train ride away!

Greek Life: There is no greek life (and I think most of us are very happy about that).

Nightlife: There's pretty much something going on Tuesday-Saturday at one of the Claremont Colleges. Also, Pitzer has a lot of off campus houses that consistently throw parties.

Off-Campus Dining: Claremont is a pretty sleepy town so sometimes its hard to get food late but everything is really nice and close to campus.

Scholarships: The financial aid department is kind of a hassle to deal with but Pitzer has a lot of money to give.

Campus Strictness: You're never going to have a problem with administration unless you're really dumb and obscenely obvious or disturbing others.

Campus Housing: The dorms are new and very nice and clean. They are actually pretty spacious and youll never have more than one roommate. Also, on of the new sophomore dorms is platinum lead certified!

Parking: You are only permitted to have a car your junior and senior years unless you get a special permit for your job which is inconvenient.

Guys & Girls: Everyone is very quirky, independent, and, I hate to say it, but hipster. There's a lot of 90s fashion and environmentalism happening here, which i love.

Academics: As a comp sci major, I haven't been able to find my niche and am transferring out. Not the best school if you're interested in this career path

Nightlife: Being in the 5Cs is actually a huge advantage in terms of nightlife, because you can usually find something going on every night of the week. There is usually a 5C sponsored party on Saturday nights. Pitzer also has a few off campus houses where there are frequently parties.

Athletics: Athletics really aren't a big part of campus life. I have a few friends who participate on varsity sports, but going to sporting events is not a very popular social activity. If you're looking for a school where going to football games is popular, I wouldn't recommend Pitzer.

Facilities: The Gold Student Center is under construction this year, which means that students have to go to other 5C campuses to access gym facilities. However, next year the construction will be complete and should be super nice! Other facilities, such as the demo kitchen, are great!

Parking: Due to limited parking spaces, students cannot have a car on campus until Junior year. A permit must be purchased, but it's not too expensive.

Pitzer is a truly wonderful place filled with people who want to make a difference and embrace change. There does not exist one specific Pitzer student; rather, once on campus, you will be welcomed by a myriad of different personalities, opinions, and likes and dislikes. If there were to be a general consensus about the students at Pitzer, it would be that they are driven individuals who seek to make the world a better place. But Pitzer students could not do what they do alone. The student body is a reflection of a much bigger entity: the faculty, staff, administration, groundskeepers, dining hall workers, and everyone else who makes a contribution to the school help to unify it and make it the amazing place the students know it as today. The school has grown so much, and it has only been around since 1963! One can only imagine what immense changes are to come.

Most students enjoy their time at Pitzer and the Claremont Consortium as a whole, though some common complaints include the cost, the lack of school spirit, and the pretty tame party scene. If you look past all of this, though, you will inevitably see that being given the chance to study at Pitzer is the opportunity of a lifetime. Pitzer is not your average higher education institution; it offers unique opportunities such as traveling with your professor to do research or working closely with the administration to make the school the place you want it to be. You may come here for an education, but in reality, you're going to walk away with a whole lot more.
