Off-Campus Dining: A whole downtown area with a number of different restaurants – claremont has a whole downtown area with a number of different restaurants that range in casual dining to upper scale. There are a number of local places that offer student discounts, and there is fast food nearby too, if that is your preference.

Overall Experience: A Different Sort of College Experience – Overall, I have absolutely loved my experience at Pitzer College. At times, the small size of the school becomes tiring. Everyone knows about everyone's business, and gossip is a bit of a problem. Pitzer students are opinionated and passionate. They have drive and vigor about whatever they find important. Occasionally this can result in rather abrasive and counter-productive mass arguments. I find these times intriguing rather than annoying. If you take the time to listen, you will learn so much more at this school beyond what is offered in the classroom. The teachers are funny and the classes are unique. The social life is fulfilling but not dominated by any individual influence- no frat parties, etc. If I had the chance, I would definitely choose PItzer again.

Nightlife: On Campus there is always something going on – Nightlife generally happens on campus. Pitzer fund parties with alcohol, so there's generally no problem with that. There is really good music at the Pomona Glass house, and many people go there on the weekends to check out big bands. But on campus there is always something going on.

Athletics: If You're Into Sports, Youll Still Have Fun – The atmosphere for sports is pretty big, if you want to get into it. All the facilities are located on the Pomona College campus and generally run through Pomona. The teams consist of Pomona and Pitzer athletes, and many of the teams are very competitive for NCAA division 3. As a part of the Varsity baseball team last year, we were ranked number one in division 3, and went to regional playoffs.

Health & Safety: Generally Safe – The school has a pretty active campus security, because even with the 5 colleges, the general area is fairly small. Sometimes there is petty theft, and bicycles get stolen a lot, but all you need to do is lock up.

Overall Experience: Stellar-- underrated academically – i think that pitzer and all of the claremont schools are all amazing. If I could choose all over again, i would still go to pitzer without a doubt. the academics are rigorous, especially in science classes at the Joint science center in conjunction with claremont and scripps. I would say that the most unique thing about pitzer and the claremont school at least in America, is how i can take any class at any of the other claremont schools without any hassle. the credits are interchangeable and each schools professors have their own feel. we also share sports teams so there is a strong school rivalry pomona and pitzer VS claremont scripps and harvey mudd, which makes things very interesting. overall i think that pitzer is underrated academically compared to the rest of the claremont schools and that its on the rise with the freshman class becoming more competitive to get into every year.

Off-Campus Housing: College Park – Right across the street from campus are the newly built College Park Apartments. Pitzer will allow you to live off campus through the school or on your own. If you live there through the school, it costs the same as on campus housing, except you have the extra amenities that come with apartment-style living.

Local Atmosphere: Village has movie theaters, restaurants, and shopping – There is a lot to do on campus, but if you need to get a way, the Claremont Village is next to campus. In the village are movie theaters, restaurants and shopping.

Campus Dining: Food Is Fresh and Friendly – Lots of vegetarian options, dining hall staff are always willing to go in the back and get you whatever you need that isn't readily available

Diversity: Pitzer stresses and embraces diversity. The students are naturally accepting of pretty much any differences, and believe that is what makes the school so vibrant. But if you are a Republican, keep it to yourself!

Transportation: Ok but Options Are Limited – There are city buses available but I have never taken them and I don't think they're very reliable. The Metrolink takes people right from near campus to Central Station in LA, which is nice BUT it is hard to get around with public transportation in LA. The School offers Zip-cars for students to rent which are helpful. The Claremont Colleges are fairly residential so most people can walk everywhere.

Transportation: Not Nessasary – most students ride bikes or longboards/ skateboards around because the campuses are not big enough to need to drive everywhere. there are many clubs that provide students with opertunities to go off campus to downtown LA, San Diego, or events that are going on. as far as I know (I have a car so i haven't looked into it)the school encourages students to stay on campus by providing everything on campus and does not offer any services to go into the city. however with that said, everyone is generally happy to help out other students and provide rides for others and it is not a problem getting from A to B usually.

Campus Housing: Location Isn't an Issue – The new green dorms for the freshman are like a five star motel, but the upperclass dorms need some work. They have great suit layouts but are in serious need of a pick-me-up.

Off-Campus Dining: Lots of Variety and Some Hidden Gems – Claremont and the surrounding cities have some nice restaurants (fine-dining), cafes, burrito joints, smaller family owned places, and all of the chain restaurants that people expect and enjoy. You can use Claremont Cash at a number of them which is nice. Some cheap options are available. Not a ton of late night restaurants but you can get fast food, asian food at Mix-Bowl or IHOP at all hours.

Overall Experience: I've talked to tons of Pitzer applicants and there is never enough time to say all the things I would like about why Pitzer is amazing, but it isnt hard to get them excited about the school.
The school is small enough that you feel like a part of a family, you know everyone at the school and its almost impossible to dislike a fellow Pitzer student but if you are looking for anonymity all you have to do is walk 100 yards to another Claremont campus. Pitzer isn't the pot smoking hippy school that it is made out to be and there isn't anymore drug use here than at any other school. It is a really accepting place and people aren't judged by how many drugs they do or how many people they get with. You make a reputation by contributing to the school and being a valuable part of the community, of course having a sense of humor helps.
The student body is generally enthusiastic and happy. If you want to start up a club or go on an adventure you can always find someone to come along.
It really feels like the school belongs to the students and the faculty and staff and there to help you succeed and give you the resources needed to do so. Pitzer students and smart and capable people that are ready to learn and passionate about the activities they take part in.
A lot of people at Pitzer are prepared to reach for their dreams and I have seen a lot of people take time off in search of more only to return with a new found appreciate for Pitzer College.

Campus Strictness: Lenient alcohol policy – The alcohol policy at all of the Claremont schools is very lax, in fact most of the parties are thrown by the schools with alcohol provided. Campus security seems to only have a presence to prevent fights and for kid with alcohol poisoning. I only know of one person who has ever been reprimanded for drinking on campus.

Overall Experience: Pitzer is the best place to go to college ever. Not only do you get the experience of a small school but there are four other schools around it. this means that you never run out of cool new people to meet and interesting opinions in your classes. People genuinely enjoy their academics but there is also a fantastic social life on all five of the campuses.

Computers: There are computers available for use all over campus including a new Mac lab. I have never had to wait for a computer or sat down at a computer that didn't work. Printing is easy and there is an attendant that works RIGHT by the printers to make sure they work. Lab techs are available full time to help with campus computers and the IT department is very helpful with wireless for your personal computer. Wireless works all over campus so connecting to the internet in the dorms or classrooms is never a problem.

Transportation: If You Have a Bike You Are Set – If a student is living on campus or off campus there is no need for any sort of transportation other than a bike. most students living off campus live walking or biking distance away from the school.

Campus Strictness: As Long as You Are Not Stupid It Will Be Fine – The school rules on drinking and drugs are pretty strict, but are easy to get around as long as you aren't stupid about it. Plenty of people have parties in their rooms and as long as they don't get to loud everything is fine.

Overall Experience: Pitzer has an amazing balance of academic and social life. Pitzer students are engaged and interested in their studies but don't let that dictate their social lives. Classes aren't competitive or focused on grades. The general atmosphere on campus is very laid back, but still academically enriching and intellectual.

Transportation: Walking Is the Best Option – There's a Metrolink station 15 minutes walking distance from Pitzer that takes you into LA, besides that everything is walking distance around town. To get to somewhere else most people have cars.

Overall Experience: Truly Wonderful – Overall, my experience at Pitzer has been very good. I've been fortunate to come to a play where the staff values each and every one of their students and is readily accessible to help them when a question arises. I've been able to be involved heavily on campus life clubs and responsibilities as well as playing a varsity sport, all while completing a double major. Bottom line, for someone seeking a great liberal arts education and overall great college experience, Pitzer is the place to be.

Campus Strictness: Completely Lax – Everyone from the RAs to campus security is really relaxed about drinking. Everyone drinks at Pitzer and the 5 Colleges and its not an issue at all

Guys & Girls: Smart and Sexy? Girls outnumber guys by a lot at Pitzer and all of the girls are really attractive and smart. Both sexes tend to be really active and interesting. Pitzer students are really engaged in the community and friendly so it isn't hard to find people that have similar interests as long as you put yourself out there a little bit.

Pitzer is a truly wonderful place filled with people who want to make a difference and embrace change. There does not exist one specific Pitzer student; rather, once on campus, you will be welcomed by a myriad of different personalities, opinions, and likes and dislikes. If there were to be a general consensus about the students at Pitzer, it would be that they are driven individuals who seek to make the world a better place. But Pitzer students could not do what they do alone. The student body is a reflection of a much bigger entity: the faculty, staff, administration, groundskeepers, dining hall workers, and everyone else who makes a contribution to the school help to unify it and make it the amazing place the students know it as today. The school has grown so much, and it has only been around since 1963! One can only imagine what immense changes are to come.

Most students enjoy their time at Pitzer and the Claremont Consortium as a whole, though some common complaints include the cost, the lack of school spirit, and the pretty tame party scene. If you look past all of this, though, you will inevitably see that being given the chance to study at Pitzer is the opportunity of a lifetime. Pitzer is not your average higher education institution; it offers unique opportunities such as traveling with your professor to do research or working closely with the administration to make the school the place you want it to be. You may come here for an education, but in reality, you're going to walk away with a whole lot more.
