Academics: I guess my grading is this way considering some of the difficulty I had with registering with the program, and the requesting of doucmentation that could not be found. Other areas I have not complaints maybe it should receive seperate ratings for each area.

College Junior

Greek Life: not sure i am not on campus so i can not elaborate

5 College Junior

Nightlife: I do not live on the campus can say that while I am there attending classes the campus is very quiet and secured.

College Junior

Majors: As STEM majors we are taken good care of, but as a young adult you always aren't sure if you are prepared to take on the world.

4 College Junior

Majors: in the end it doesn't matter where you are, it is all about the effort you out into your education.

1 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: There aren't any off campus options provided by the school.

Facilities: PSC is a very small campus, so there isn't as many things to do on campus as there would be at a big campus. We have a good library, we have a Panther Den where people play pool and a lobby where some people hang out that's pretty much it. We call the areas outside of the dorms and around the campus "The Block" where people sit and hang out when it feels good outside.

Academics: I am taking the pre-nursing curriculum because they do not have an actual nursing program. It is usually just two years, but it may be longer if you are missing a class that is not offered at the time you need it to be. The courseload is typical for science majors meaning its challenging but doable. Since it is a small private college, there is not a lot of students with my major, most are biology majors headed for med school. Most internship notifications I recieve are for engineering and other science and technology majors. I have a very good advisor, she is doing the best she can to keep me on track with the courses I need for nursing school. So far I have had some challenges, but I am not giving up, it is just a sometimes bumpy journey.

Diversity: Philander Smith College is an HBCU so the majority of the students are African Americans. However, there are also a few white people that are treated just like everyone else, we also have Asians, a whole lot of African and Caribbeans. In terms of sexual orientation, there are a lot of gay people especially lesbians here on campus, they are allowed the same right as everyone else. Economic background wise, majority are of the middle and lower class level, it offers a lot of financial aid (about 96% have some sort of financial aid) so the school is relatively cheap and more accessible for middle and lower class men. In terms of Political beliefs, we are an HBCU so expect that everyone here is for Obama, I haven't met anyone who said they liked Romney. Generally, we are very accepting.

Weather: The weather in Arkansas is totally confusing, hot one day and cold the next. I kinda like it that way though. The temperature in the classrooms are regulated according to the weather outside, and of course everyone as access to the thermostats, so you can change it to match your preference provided everyone else agrees.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Public transportation at is good. There are always buses and security to take places in case of emergency or academic reasons.

3 College Junior

Athletics: Athletics at my school is important. We have a lot of Athletic individuals. School spirit is okay but I think it would be better if we had a football team.

5 College Junior

Campus Housing: Living on campus is great you get the full college experience.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: It is much better then it use to be. The Chief is really trying to please eveyone.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The safety at philander smith college is pretty well

3 College Junior

Parking: The parking isn't terrible. There is a student parking lot and there are species behind and on the side of the Titus building. Be sure to make it to class early to ensure you have a spot.

5 College Senior

Majors: In the internship that I have done there was no monatary value, but the experlence was wonderful. I love working with the elderly and youth. Their is always something in them two areas. The time was 2 hours 5 days a week at a nursing home. I would read to them walk, with them, basicly let them know they are still important

4 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: The campus police is the best, they are very visable so if something happen they are quick to response. In the area their is museums and dinner play houses, where they have excellence plays.

3 College Senior

Campus Dining: I really only eat lunch on campus, but the variety is great and I love all the fresh fruits

5 College Senior

Facilities: The staff here is awesome. They really care about their students. If you want to suceed they will do what ever they can to help you meet your goals.

5 College Senior

Weather: The school is rarely closed because of the weather so if school is open I am here.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: It's easy to start a conversation with someody while at Philander. I don't usually see someone dressed inappropriately. Most students are involved in at least one thing.

2 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: While security is available on campus, you cannot trust them to be there when you need them the most. Their response is a notch below average. Most of the security guards around campus don't look fit to respond if something big was to break out.

1 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: The food at Philander Smith College is questionable at best. If you have money, your best option is to order a pizza or go off campus. The dining hall should only be eaten as a last resort. The are making steps, however, to turn the dining hall around in a new direction.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: The apartments around Philander Smith College are decent. They're spacious, yet affordable. The only problem is distance. You may have to drive a little bit out of your way and through some tough neighborhoods to get to them.
