1 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Our school is not safe. The security guards do nothing to prevent students from being in harm's way.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: The food isn't very leasing to te eye. The steak is dry and the bagels are old.

2 College Junior

Facilities: The facilities on campus are average. The classroom settings are good but my main priority is just learning from my teachers. The campus life here is boring and the social scene is very small and insignificant. My purpose is to earn an education and I do not particularly care for any social scenes.

Athletics: Athletics at Philander Smith College are good for student involvement and school pride for everyone. The Philander Smith basketball games are exciting to watch, excellent atmosphere, good for alumni and students to interact and provide a safe atmosphere for everyone. Coming to support a Panthers event is essential for all in the surrounding areas. Go Panthers!!!

Campus Dining: The campus dining at Philander Smith College is appalling. The food does not tatste appealing, there is no variety, healthy food items seem to not be a major priority and students spend money eating off campus too frequently. The problems are myriad but my main concern is the food does not taste appealing. I never find something I like so I tend to just eat off campus.

2 College Junior

Parking: The parking at Philander Smith College is okay depending on the day you park. When activities are in progress finding spots can sometimes become hectic. On average though, Philander Smith does provide students with reasonable parking and tend not to fine people when problems occur. The security are superb and do their best to provide availabilty.

1 College Freshman

Campus Dining: The dining halls do not serve enough food, the drinks are out most of the time, they need more variety in the cafe.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: The athletic teams we have here are good but the gym hours need to be extended.

5 College Junior

Academics: Well the work load is okay at this point. It is not very difficult and we learn as a class. I feel as if all students needs are being met and no one is being left behind.

3 College Junior

Academics: I guess my grading is this way considering some of the difficulty I had with registering with the program, and the requesting of doucmentation that could not be found. Other areas I have not complaints maybe it should receive seperate ratings for each area.

College Junior

Greek Life: not sure i am not on campus so i can not elaborate

5 College Junior

Nightlife: I do not live on the campus can say that while I am there attending classes the campus is very quiet and secured.

College Junior

Majors: As STEM majors we are taken good care of, but as a young adult you always aren't sure if you are prepared to take on the world.

4 College Junior

Majors: in the end it doesn't matter where you are, it is all about the effort you out into your education.

1 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: There aren't any off campus options provided by the school.

3 College Freshman

Facilities: PSC is a very small campus, so there isn't as many things to do on campus as there would be at a big campus. We have a good library, we have a Panther Den where people play pool and a lobby where some people hang out that's pretty much it. We call the areas outside of the dorms and around the campus "The Block" where people sit and hang out when it feels good outside.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: I am taking the pre-nursing curriculum because they do not have an actual nursing program. It is usually just two years, but it may be longer if you are missing a class that is not offered at the time you need it to be. The courseload is typical for science majors meaning its challenging but doable. Since it is a small private college, there is not a lot of students with my major, most are biology majors headed for med school. Most internship notifications I recieve are for engineering and other science and technology majors. I have a very good advisor, she is doing the best she can to keep me on track with the courses I need for nursing school. So far I have had some challenges, but I am not giving up, it is just a sometimes bumpy journey.

Diversity: Philander Smith College is an HBCU so the majority of the students are African Americans. However, there are also a few white people that are treated just like everyone else, we also have Asians, a whole lot of African and Caribbeans. In terms of sexual orientation, there are a lot of gay people especially lesbians here on campus, they are allowed the same right as everyone else. Economic background wise, majority are of the middle and lower class level, it offers a lot of financial aid (about 96% have some sort of financial aid) so the school is relatively cheap and more accessible for middle and lower class men. In terms of Political beliefs, we are an HBCU so expect that everyone here is for Obama, I haven't met anyone who said they liked Romney. Generally, we are very accepting.

Weather: The weather in Arkansas is totally confusing, hot one day and cold the next. I kinda like it that way though. The temperature in the classrooms are regulated according to the weather outside, and of course everyone as access to the thermostats, so you can change it to match your preference provided everyone else agrees.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Public transportation at is good. There are always buses and security to take places in case of emergency or academic reasons.

3 College Junior

Athletics: Athletics at my school is important. We have a lot of Athletic individuals. School spirit is okay but I think it would be better if we had a football team.

5 College Junior

Campus Housing: Living on campus is great you get the full college experience.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: It is much better then it use to be. The Chief is really trying to please eveyone.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The safety at philander smith college is pretty well

3 College Junior

Parking: The parking isn't terrible. There is a student parking lot and there are species behind and on the side of the Titus building. Be sure to make it to class early to ensure you have a spot.
