3 College Freshman

Computers: I did not use the school printers. I used the computers a few times and they were good.

College Freshman

Computers: Wireless is available almost everywhere on campus, but can be spotty. Definitely need to bring own computer because why would you not? Printer is very helpful and convenient, but not needed.

4 College Senior

Computers: There are some computer labs on campus so if you will be well equipped if you do not have your own computer. The network is very reliable and the wireless access is excellent, never had a problem connecting to the internet wirelessly. The only negative is that the cost of printing/copying is pretty steep.

3 College Freshman

Computers: I prefer to use my own laptop and print in my room, but that's just me.

4 College Freshman

Computers: There are lots of computers on campus at various locations. It would be beneficial, I think, to have more printers available, and with color-printing capabilities.

The consensus is that Pepperdine's computer labs are at least satisfactory for most students, although having a personal computer is more convenient. Interestingly, most students do use the labs at least once in a while, even if they have their own personal computers. More than a few students have found using the school's computers to be more expedient than doing their work at home on their PCs. Meanwhile, the Internet connection in the dorms provides enough speed and reliability to satisfy even the more technologically savvy students.

Yes, it is nice to have your own computer. Often, especially around midterms or finals, the computer lab can become deafening with obnoxious, procrastinating banter. And yes, having a laptop with wireless access is especially preferable, as it allows you to take advantage of the University's wireless network. But at Pepperdine you can almost always find an available computer to use, whether in the library, the Writing Center, or, if it's going to be an all-nighter, the 24-hour computer lab in the HAWC.
