Guys & Girls: The amount of hot girls are limitless. They are friendly and are open to conversation. No one can complain about the lack of hot girls.

Being a large campus (44k), there are all types of people. No matter your race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc. you will find somebody that is like you.

2 College Junior

Greek Life: The Frats are pretty exclusive. It's very hard to get into one.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: The drug scene at Penn State isn't huge, but, depending on who you associate with that might be different. Alcohol and other drugs do not have to be a part of your life if you don't want them to be.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Penn State, especially with all of the things that have been going down, has been cracking down on students. They have been enforcing policy heavily. However, be smart and you'll be fine.

4 College Sophomore

Greek Life: In general, Greek Life on campus doesn't affect non-Greek students unless they choose to be affected by it. Some of the girls are snobs and some of the boys are bro's, but I have tons of friends who are in Greek Life who are completely normal. They throw "okay" parties and there's typically enough alcohol to go around.

Parking: Parking at Penn State puts students in tricky situations. Though it is possible to park on campus, the closest parking lots and ones that are available to students are WAY FAR AWAY from any classrooms. Be sure to get on campus super early. Also, parking down College Avenue is an ABSOLUTE nightmare and you must pay for it by the 15-minute interval as well. State is not a car-friendly/parking-friendly campus.

4 College Junior

Majors: I'm a adlt college student at penn state york. I'm a human development and family studies students. I have alot of my own experiences with this. with the classes that i'm taking is not that hard for me to experience in the classroom and the real world.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There is a bit of over drinking but it happens at every campus. There are buses that run on and off campus and there are security poles if needed, campus security and the campus is well lit. They university is quick to send out alerts if there are problems or suspicions.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: The buses are frequent and have several routes both on and off campus. The more populated routes are out late to assure students get home from the bar. The public buses are a reasonable price.

5 College Senior

Academics: Penn State offers more academic opportunities that I could have ever imagined. There educational services are exceptional and broad enough for students to have plenty of options when chosing a course of study.

5 College Senior

Academics: The professors in my college are dedicated, hard working, sucessful educators that are willing to go above and beyond for their students. I have met some very important people in the profession of Rebilitation. I would not have as much experience in the field if it wasn't for my professors at Penn State.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: Even after all the bad news and publicity, I still feel more at home than anywhere else. State College is a wonderful town filled with friendly people. I never am afraid to walk alone because we are one team who looks out for one another. :) That is what makes us such a great community and university.

5 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Penn State is very strict about academic integrity. The professors are very adamant about students doing their own work, and if a student is caught cheating, they can receive pretty severe punishments. Penn State is also pretty strict about underage drinking. If caught with alcohol on campus or drinking underage, you could receive a fine and have to take a alcohol class. All in all, it is better to be safe than sorry when it comes to following the rules.

5 College Junior

Campus Dining: The dining options at Penn State are excellent. If you're craving something specific to eat, there is a pretty good chance it is being served somewhere in campus. The meal plan is very affordable and gives you access to all the doing options on campus. All in all, the food a Penn State is amazing.

4 College Junior

Academics: Once you pick a major at Penn State, you have a lot of options to get involved. A new advisor is assigned to you that has a specialty in your major area. There are also many clubs you can join in order to network and get involved with others in your major.

4 College Junior

Academics: The professors at Penn State have as big of a passion about the school as the students do. They are very dedicated to preparing the students for great careers, and they take the reputation of the school very seriously. The professors always make themselves available for their students, either in person or through email.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: Eastview Terrace at Penn State is a great place for upperclassmen who do not want a long walk to class. Two dining options are conveniently located on either side if the area. It also always a plus to have your own bathroom.

4 College Senior

Academics: I chose Penn State World Campus because I am a mother to three and a wife. I could not attend regular classes but, wanted a degree. The online classes and technology is excellent and makes it all worth it.

5 College Freshman

Majors: I'm very happy with my choice of a major, I feel like it's definitely a hot field to go into right now and I don't think I'll have any trouble finding work once I graduate seeing as there is a nurse shortage.

3 College Freshman

Majors: I do know that I need to apply right away my first semester in for the nursing program. I didnt realize it would be that fast and how they would assess my academic abilities before I even had anything to show for it but I suppose it will be fine.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Well I'm applying to the nursing major but I'm not in it yet so I really don't know. I have switched from another major and I felt that I got all the help I needed in it and the classes were extremely specific to my major but I just decided I wanted to do some thing else

5 College Freshman

Computers: The accessibility of computers at any Penn State campus is great! They have an abundance of computers and even people there to help if something goes wrong with your personal computer. I had to take my laptop in there a couple times and they always helped me get it straight. There was always a seat in the computer labs.

5 College Freshman

Majors: First off Penn State has many majors to offer, anyone can find a niche here. As far as internships go I can't say since I've yet to receive one but I'm hoping to enter the nursing major and I'm sure Penn State will make sure I get all the training I need.

5 College Freshman

Scholarships: I haven't received any financial aid that I know of yet since I am unable to login to my elion account but the process was easy!

2 College Student

Off-Campus Housing: I am originally from the McKeesport area, but in the past few years, violence in that area has sky rocketed. If you are looking for a safer place, try the surrounding areas that still are not far from the Greater Allegheny campus. Such as White Oak, Liberty Boro, Glassport, Dravosburg... I also see a Nittany Lion Shuttle in these areas every morning.

Despite common reservations about the location and climate, most Penn State students are fiercely loyal to their alma mater. Penn State boasts one of the largest alumni populations in the United States; graduates are proud of their degrees, and employers recognize the University’s name immediately. Although the campus is located in a very rural area, school is technologically up-to-date and on the cutting-edge of current research.

Aside from academics, PSU is also known for its social scene, especially in relation to sports and parties. Nittany Lion football—home of the 2008 Big Ten Champions—is a national draw and a point of pride for both the University and the town of State College. For anyone interested in playing or watching varsity sports, PSU is a top choice. Penn State has also been ranked highly by many polls and “party school” surveys as one of the top party schools in the nation. While it certainly isn’t the wildest town, these rankings are definitely accurate. The small-town setting and large-school atmosphere makes for little else in the way of entertainment, so it can be hard to avoid encountering the party scene during your time as a student. Still, the mix of work and leisure seems to work well for most of the student body, and academic standards at Penn State remain relatively high. It’s easy to spend four years at Penn State as an ever-serious student, focused completely on whatever you choose to study. With so many opportunities to relax nearby, balance and moderation are some of the best skills to learn from your four years in college.
