3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: I don't really party - but in terms of the best positive party, that's definitely THON.

2 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Most of the parties at the main places get busted.

4 College Senior

Nightlife: Many people have parties at their off-campus houses or apartments. There are not too many things to do in Altoona, so many students drive to State College on the weekends to have fun.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: There's a lot to do!

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: There isn't much to do in Altoona so that's why everyone parties. If you don't party, good luck finding something to do with your time. Nittany Pointe and frats host a lot of the parties which aren't very good in my opinion. It seems like you have to go up to State to experience a great party. Unless you have a fake ID or know someone over 21, you can't buy alcohol or go to bars/clubs and even then Altoona doesn't have that many great options.

The nightlife at Penn State Altoona is generally lacking on campus and in the town. The majority of students tend to stay close to campus by having parties and small get-togethers at their apartments or their friends’ places at various off-campus complexes. Students who want to go out but don’t have a car can walk to Aldo's or Trianon, which are bars approximately a mile from campus. There are other clubs and bars around, but they are on the outskirts of the city.

The availability of nightlife drops drastically for students under the age of 21. The most entertaining things to do are bowling, ice skating, or going to the movies. Underage students can also go to a restaurant and hang out there with friends, but Denny's and Eat ‘n Park are the only ones open all night. Many students take trips out of town or go to Saint Francis University, about 20 miles away, to interact with other college students who are not from Penn State Altoona. Other universities and colleges in the area include Penn State University Park, Juniata College, Mount Aloysius College, and Lock Haven University.
