Campus Resources: We provide our own computers for personal use, but there is a computer lab with both Macs and PCs. It's open 24 hours a day.

Campus Resources: Because Pacifica is a graduate school, we don't have sports teams. There is no student center but lots of places to get together and talk, play music, and hang out. Because it is a hybrid program where we're not on campus all the time there aren't many campus activities. The campus aesthetics are lovely.

College Junior

Student Body: Pacifica attracts a specific kind of student: open minded, spiritual rather than religious, creative, adventurous, and accepting. People who are not these things tend to drop out pretty fast. We have Catholics, Protestants, Buddhists, Taoists, atheists and agnostics, but no evangelicals. The student body tends to be White and affluent, apart from those of us who need to take out loans. The level of acceptance is excellent.

College Junior

Academic Flexibility: Because it is a cohort system, we all take the same classes at the same time. The professors are great if you need to file for an incomplete and are very understanding about family crises and the like.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Pacifica is a private, for profit school. Aside from a few small scholarships offered, t is pretty much up to you to find funding. For me it is a lot of loans, but I believe the excellent education I am getting will help me recoup the cost.

Career Services: I haven't reached that point yet, but I think your most important "career service" is to build up networking connections at your practicum site, through your supervisors and professors. No one is going to hand feed you.

Overall Experience: Pacifica uses the cohort system, which means you and your classmates are a close knit group who support and encourage each other. At least my cohort is outstanding. Some others develop cliques and in fighting but that's really up to the individual group. I think Pacifica is a "self selecting" school. Either you love it or you don't like it at all. We are encouraged to incorporate creativity into our academics. We do unusual things like Hakomi and somatic therapies. We study sociology, and mingle down to earth classes like drug abuse and child abuse, with "out there" courses on Marion Woodman, mythology, dream work, expressive therapies, and Jung's alchemical psychology. Although the student body is largely white, diversity awareness requirements are woven into every class. We are exposed to thinkers and methods other schools simply don't offer. One of the founding figures of Pacifica was Joseph Campbell, if that tells you anything. I looked at many cheaper, more convenient schools, but none of them fit me like Pacifica.

Academic Experience: The MA Counseling Psychology program is excellent. As you can see by previous comments, the curriculum is unique and rich. The facilities are very nice, the setting of the Ladera Lane campus is exquisite, set in the mountains overlooking the Pacific ocean. My only real negative comment is that there is not a lot of support in finding a practicum site, but this is probably partially due to the fact that because this is a low residency program, the students are scattered all over the world between sessions.

Academic Experience: The professors are passionate about their subjects, the curriculum is engaging and demanding, registration is simple, the workload is heavy (hey, it's grad school!) Unlike many other programs at other schools, Pacifica still requires a thesis, which I like. This is a graduate school, not a job mill.

Facilities: The Pacifica Counseling Psychology program offers a blend of therapeutic modalities including depth psychology, Jungian psychology, family systems, self psychology, Rogerian, Gestalt, expressive therapies (art, play, sand tray, etc) and more. It is not your standard curriculum, and there is much less attention paid to CBT. You will learn techniques here that most programs don't offer, in addition to a solid core of standard techniques.

I am currently in my second year and have been doing therapy in a small community mental health clinic as my practicum. I have found that I have an excellent grounding in therapeutic methods, as reflected by my supervisor's feedback and evaluations. I am the only Pacifica student among the other trainees and interns. I am frequently called upon by the supervisor and my colleagues for what they call "outside the box" thinking and methods.

Online Courses: Because the MA Counseling Psychology program is hybrid, there are several online/on campus blend courses each quarter. They work well, with lots of interaction between the professor and other students.

Tuition & Financial Aid: very expensive. No support to try to find alternative ways to pay for school.People are usually on top of what you need to pay in order to sign up for classes.

3 College Senior

Campus Resources: no atheltics, student center or activities.
beautiful campus just to get int the work.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: The school is fairly small, so the one computer lab is quite sufficient to meet the student body's needs. They have modern equipment with good internet service. Student's and faculty can easily print and copy paperwork, as well as use common office tools. The lab is open for long hours, closing around 11 pm.
Network availability throughout campus is very unreliable, as is phone service.

3 College Sophomore

Career Services: I am not yet familiar with the quality of the post-grad services at my school. I believe they are developing the auxiliary programs at my school. THis might be an area under development.

3 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: THe education is outstanding and meets my passion for the depth psychology approach. Financial aid was easy to acquire and assistance through the school was available. The tuition is very high and FAFSA now starts accumulating interest upon receipt, so I foresee having large loans to repay at the end of my education. I wish there were more assistance finding scholarships and other supplemental sources of payment.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: The campus resources at Pacifica are outstanding. The school offers sit down dining and housing facilities are within a short walking distance from classes.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Campus resources at Pacifica are excellent with easy access to materials and support as well as a customer friendly atmosphere.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Pacific offers an outstanding computer lab and team of technicians available to assist with computer issues and online technology.

4 College Junior

Tuition & Financial Aid: My school is very slow with offering financial aid. It is a new school and does not have financial aid. I find this to have a negative impact on me. A lot of things that financial aid would cover I don't have. Books are going up and college cost are too and with no finical aid I'm stuck.

4 College Junior

Student Body: My school's student body is different. There is a small group of students but we all seem to get along. I attend a all sports school so this means a school with all athletes. Im top of my class when it comes to grades. I love doing my work and having it in before a deadline date.

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: Professors are very involved with student success and learning.

4 College Sophomore

Online Courses: The format is user-friendly. The workload is heavy, appropriate for a graduate school. Time usually spent commuting is better utilized in class and/or reading and preparing for the next assignment or class discussion.

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: Rigorous Academic Platform – The academic platform is rigorous and also attainable. It is a masters level program and in being so requires a certain level of dedication.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: Excellent Resources – There are plenty of resources from the library to the faculty and the departments are all very accessible
