College Freshman

Drug Safety: I haven't been on campus to witness anyone in the drug scene, and I am not "in the know" enough to understand these things.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Drugs are not tolerated on campus at all and students will turn friends in for use because it's for their own good and the good of the campus as a whole. The few students that do use don't live on campus for fear of being caught. Alcohol policies are respected on campus. The only alcohol consumption that takes place on campus is within the confines of a "21 and up" space. This is defined as a dorm room in which only students 21 years or older are housed. They may drink inside their dorm room whenever they wish as long as only 21 and up students are present. If an empty but open alcohol container is in the room at the same time as an underage/minor person, they can be punished simply due to the fact that they may have obtained alcohol. The person of legal age can also be charged with or convicted of attempt to provide alcohol to a minor without parental consent. Policy enforcement is 100%. There is no warning, sympathy or bias.

Peer pressure is a bit odd at Oregon Tech because students will pressure their friends into not drinking or going out and offer alternative ways to have fun. It is a very supportive campus that has a lot of health-conscious students due to the majority of students pursuing a medical degree as well as how competitive the programs are. I've never seen a campus of students behave that way about partying and alcohol but it is certainly comforting that either way if I drink or don't I will still be accepted but my friends would rather I make healthy choices and will help and support me in it.

Drug Safety: OIT is not to blame for the drug safety issues. But, OIT is in Klamath Falls where drugs and alcohol are a way of life for a lot of people around here. Fir example 39 people where just arrested in a massive drug bust. Drugs in Klamath are part of life. However, if you keep yourself to high standards drugs will not be an issue. OIT is mainly campaigning for Stay alive don't drink and drive.

Drug Safety: I have never seen any problems at the Wilsonville campus yet and don't forsee any future issues. Most students are quite serious about their degree programs and respectful of the campus overall.

5 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Haven't seen students using drugs. I usually meet people who are excellent students with serious intentions.
