3 College Sophomore

Athletics: At our school there is a pretty divided line between students who are athletes and students who are not. Because we don't have a football team there isn't a huge about of team spirit but we all still love the school. The athletic facilities are good for the size of school were are .

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: We are a fairly small private university. We, as students, are trying to be more involved and helping out the students to get more involved in their school activities.

4 Recent Alumnus

Athletics: There is always room to improve our school spirit!

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: The Athletic Center (AC) at my school is really good and allows athletes and non-athletes a wide variety so they can work out however they like. There are many machines, different rooms, and even two places for wait training.

2 College Sophomore

Athletics: When I walk on to the basketball team I Plan to change the team around. The environment, school spirit, and team energy.

Oral Roberts University is Division I and plays in the Summit League against schools like Oakland University, IUPUI, and Western Illinois. Basketball is probably ORU’s most popular sport overall, and the men’s and women’s teams both have successful pasts. The women have made four NCAA tournament appearances, and the men’s team has three. One of the biggest games for the men’s team came in 2006 when the unranked Golden Eagles defeated the University of Kansas, which was ranked third in the nation at the time. Lots of students go to the basketball, baseball, and soccer games, but school spirit could definitely be better.

Many dorm wings participate in intramurals together at ORU, and some wings have a reputation for containing the most athletic individuals on campus. In fact, there are rumors that some wings even recruit individuals to move onto their floors so they can dominate the intramurals scene the next season.

School Spirit
A large amount of the student population attends the basketball games at the Mabee Center on campus. There is one wild group on campus known as the Mabee Maniacs. This group of students dresses up for the game's theme, such as gangster, white-out, etc. These students also pay a fee at the beginning of the year, which gets them Maniac t-shirts, pizza, and energy drinks before each game to get hyped up. In turn, this gets the rest of the student section hyped up.
Getting Tickets
Students get into all on-campus games for free with the swipe of their school ID card.
Best Place to Take a Walk
There is a new walking trail on campus that is constantly being improved. There are also several other paths and parks close to campus where students can jog or bike if desired.
Did You Know?
The Mabee Center is where home basketball games are played, but the arena also hosts concerts and speakers who come to Tulsa.
