Weather: Athens weather is typical to Ohio. Fluctuating temperatures, four seasons in a week, freezing cold winters and blazing hot summers. Though you might have to pack clothes for all seasons for just one semester, Athens weather is oddly charming and never leaves your bored (on the plus side, experiencing all the seasons is great!)

3 College Freshman

Weather: The weather is all over the place, any Ohioan will tell you. Campus is great when the weather is nice, and it kind of sucks when the weather is bad. But I imagine anyone from any school will say the same thing

3 College Freshman

Weather: Hearing from others, I was expecting a lot more rain. This past winter was brutal for most of Ohio with record breaking cold temperatures.

3 College Freshman

Weather: I live in Ohio. That should be enough said. The weather here is unpredictable. One moment it's snowing and the next you are wearing shorts. The weather is beautiful though. It rains more than snows. Since everything is close by, you don't have to really worry about making a long journey to class in bad weather. Even if it does get bad, class is canceled or you can take shortcuts through near by buildings.

2 College Senior

Weather: 75 and sunny one day, 25 and a blizzard the next day.

Rain, rain, and more rain. The wet stuff epitomizes Athens' weather, and not just in the spring. It rains in Athens year round, but thankfully, it's really only constant in the springtime. Students agree that you should never leave home without an umbrella because the rainstorms can be completely random and without warning, not to mention torrential. Some students even go as far as to say, you should own a fleet of umbrellas, just so wherever you are, there's one handy. That may be a bit overboard, but as stated above: it rains. It rains and it rains and it rains. But, other than showers, the weather is pleasant and typical to Ohio.

If you don't like rain, then maybe OU isn't the best choice. But, the rest of the weather is decent and predictable for the season. The rain does, after all, help the gorgeous flowers that pop up all over campus in spring. Just make sure to bring an umbrella, rain coat (OU rain pullovers are available at bookstores), and make sure to layer clothes; it may be cold outside, but it can be assured that the heat is blasting in the classroom buildings. Stay on your toes as Mother Nature throws a few curves your way.
