Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

There is a reason the Buckeye Nation is considered to be so devoted; an overwhelming love for OSU is evident in student responses, and in the loyalty of alumni to their alma mater. Each person has his or her own reasons for loving the University, and there are quite a few of them. Some students feel that the academics are top-notch and have found exactly the programs they wanted; others lean toward the athletic success of the Buckeye teams, while some just feel that the friendships and bonds they have made are enough to make their tenure at OSU worthwhile. At any rate, everyone can agree that being a Buckeye creates a special bond between you and nearly 50,000 other students, which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once you get past the sheer size of the University, it will really become a second home. After only a quarter of classes, you won't be able to cross the Oval without seeing someone you know. Ohio State is truly the smallest large university you will find. The people are known for their friendly attitudes, and alumni are scattered across the nation. If you choose to go to OSU, you're choosing a school with a name that's well known, both in the workplace and in the college community. Few students ever regret their time at Ohio State, and most consider their college experience to be among the best offered in the Big Ten and the country.

Health & Safety: I've personally not had any issues safety wise. I feel very safe here but I could also be pretty naive about it. We're always informed if something happens and I always see police/campus security around. We're located in a big city though, and obviously things will happen that can't be completely controlled.

Diversity: It's an extremely diverse school. There's tons of people from around the country... and world. There's also tons of people from Ohio in general because of the state-school pride. But I think it's great how diverse it is. Literally each and every person here is unique, there's no doubt about that.

Nightlife: I loveeee my school's party scene. Every weekend you see/hear parties going on. It's very lively and I enjoy just hearing people having fun even if I'm not participating. I also love campus bars most of the time... now that I'm getting older and less crazy I'm heading off-campus a bit more but it's still fun! I love the campus when fall arrives... everyone's school spirit is at it's peak and you hardly see anyone without drink in hand. It's just a great atmosphere!

Off-Campus Housing: I love the off-campus housing selection. Compared to other places I've visited... it's the more visually pleasing. It also feels safe to me even though it's not necessarily completely safe. I'm completely comfortable walking around "off-campus". Worst part about it is parking. While there's certainly places where you can park on the street without a permit... it took me awhile to figure out how to not get tickets/towed. It's difficult at times and I've had trouble on my street with construction/street sweeping. Unfortunately there's not much to do about it except trial and error.

Campus Dining: When I had a meal plan I really enjoyed our dining services. One of my favorite places was Burritos. The meal swipes were simple and hassle-free. Although, I do think it was a little overpriced.
