Campus Strictness: As of recent years, they have become increasingly more strict. You WILL be caught if you do anything stupid in your dorm, and punishment can be pretty harsh.

Scholarships: Make sure you have a good GPA. Be sure to apply early. Review your financial aid status often, at times they mess up.

Diversity: Campus life can be very diverse, but classes are so diverse depending on the subject. People can be very kind at other times and not accepting.

Majors: As a mechanical engineering major, I have been more than satisfied with OSU's program for engineering students. Currently, I am in the first year experience part of the program and am interacting and learning with all different engineers. This allows me to hear what it is that others are interested in and learn more about what engineering opportunities are out there. If I could do it over again, I would still choose the program I am currently enrolled in. As for my career goals, I would like to work in either the aerospace or the automotive industry for the majority of my career and possibly retire from that to teach high school physics or math, as these fields are very prominent in engineering. I do not have any concerns thus far with finding a job as OSU is very good about setting their students up with co-op and internship opportunities through the Engineering Career Services office.

Guys & Girls: The girls at OSU are about average. There is quite a number of girls, so no matter what your type is you're bound to find it here. There are also a lot of international students, both guys and girls, so if you would like to branch out and meet someone exotic, you have the opportunity.

Greek Life: The Greek Life at OSU is available for those interested in partying or finding a group of others that are interested in the same things they are to hang around with. This sounds about like Greek Life at many other schools, based on reviews I've read. I would say Greek Life at OSU is about average, but because the school is so large and has so many students, there are many opportunities to join quite a number of different Greek organizations.

Local Atmosphere: The local atmosphere at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio is fun. The shopping centers around campus are great. Variety of different types of dining inexpensive to expensive. Ohio State football is the number one sport that students as well as locals enjoy watching.

Weather: I want to be honest. Ohio weather is terrible and you will get use to it fast. It rains , snows, and its very windy anytime anywhere during anytime of season. It is awful !

Academics: I came to ohio state to learn more about the community and life in Ohio. I lived in Texas for over 10 years and I never traveled to any other state. It was new experience for me and Ohio State helped me connect with others both socially and mentally.

Weather: Although we have not had too much trouble with snow or classes getting cancelled, it does rain a significant amount here. Although it is not dangerous, it makes things very inconvenient and dreary.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Some of the girls here can be very vain and stuck up, and they guys have very little experience with how to approach girls. Although there are some flaws, the school spirit and kindness of individuals at OSU makes up for them

Majors: The Fisher College of Business is an excellent school within OSU. We have great engineering and pre-med programs as well.

Diversity: Diversity is huge here. There are students from all around the world.

Greek Life: Greek life is a big part of Ohio State, but if you're not involved in it you don't even notice it much since the school is large. So if you join its a big part of your life, if not it doesn't affect you.

Off-Campus Dining: Ohio State is right in the heart of downtown Columbus, so there are always places to go eat if you are tired of the on campus dinning. For a quick bite there are plenty of restaurants right along High Street!

Campus Housing: I was put in a small house. I did not click with anyone on my floor, and had no chance to get away because the house was so small.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: There is a lot of school spirit, and many students get involved and cheer on our teams as we win!

Off-Campus Housing: There's a lot of availability but it's necessary to find a realtor who actually cares about your experience. Certain companies will just simply help you sign the lease agreement but cut ties when you have maintenance problems or stuff regarding their housing. Companies that take care of its customers are definitely out there, it just takes some searching.

Local Atmosphere: Columbus is a huge city so it may seem easy to lose the college feel. However, there is such a unifying spirit in Columbus that makes you definitely feel like a Buckeye. Everyone is extremely friendly and you're constantly seeing new faces. Living in the city might not be for everyone but if you live in Columbus, it's not your typical constantly on the go city life.

Majors: I'm a dietetics student and have just recently been accepted into my program. I'm still considered a newer dietetics student but already I have been receiving emails and support from my advisor with future careers and job opportunities to take part in during the school year or even summer. It's extremely helpful to always have someone keeping you updated, since with all of the schoolwork and studying it's easy to get distracted from the long term.

Campus Strictness: Honestly, there is not a whole lot of party-stopping, but I know people who have gotten J-walking tickets...so you take your pick. In my opinion, there is not much strictness here at OSU.

Athletics: The varsity sports on campus are a large focus. They get everyone excited, especially football and basketball. If you want to see a good football or basketball game, OSU is the right place.

Nightlife: Well from what I hear and have seen, the nightlife is great here. If you want to party, just speak up and let someone know. You can have a great time if you want. No struggles here at Ohio State with that!

Majors: The health sciences major here at OSU is pretty decent. They accept a good number of students which is nice because they accept so many applications. It is difficult getting all of the prerequisites done in addition to all the GECs you need to graduate. They do not have enough advisors in my opinion though.

There is a reason the Buckeye Nation is considered to be so devoted; an overwhelming love for OSU is evident in student responses, and in the loyalty of alumni to their alma mater. Each person has his or her own reasons for loving the University, and there are quite a few of them. Some students feel that the academics are top-notch and have found exactly the programs they wanted; others lean toward the athletic success of the Buckeye teams, while some just feel that the friendships and bonds they have made are enough to make their tenure at OSU worthwhile. At any rate, everyone can agree that being a Buckeye creates a special bond between you and nearly 50,000 other students, which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once you get past the sheer size of the University, it will really become a second home. After only a quarter of classes, you won't be able to cross the Oval without seeing someone you know. Ohio State is truly the smallest large university you will find. The people are known for their friendly attitudes, and alumni are scattered across the nation. If you choose to go to OSU, you're choosing a school with a name that's well known, both in the workplace and in the college community. Few students ever regret their time at Ohio State, and most consider their college experience to be among the best offered in the Big Ten and the country.
