Off-Campus Dining: The Ohio State campus is surrounded by the usual fast food places: Mcdonalds, Wendy's, Panda Express, etc. Then you have some Asian food places, pizza places, and Bob Evans. They are all in walking distance from the campus, which is good, but I do wish that there were better options for food. Also, be careful, as the street that has most of the food places, High Street, is populated with many homeless people, and unsettling people who lurk around in the shadows and like to ask the students for money. Mcdonalds on High Street is usually full of homeless people. During my freshman year, I went there with my friends around 9 pm to get some food during a study break, and a man approached us and pulled his knife out on us. We escaped unharmed, but the scary experience was enough to make us promise we'd never go back there again. Just be careful!! Night time is not a good time to go walking around High Street.

Transportation: The COTA bus is the main transportation for Ohio State students to get around Columbus. There are bus stops everywhere, and Ohio State students are able to ride the bus for free by swiping their school ID. On campus, the campus bus known as CABS runs around the campus, with bus stops set up within the campus. The campus bus comes every 5-15 minutes at each stop within the campus, and is very reliable and helpful.

Campus Dining: The food on campus is okay. The dining facilities on south campus are much better than those on north campus. If you're on north campus it gets a little difficult because you don't want to go all the way to south campus all the time, but you also get sick of the options on north campus so you often end up ordering food.

Diversity: OSU is not extremely diverse on its own, but it does a great job of making sure everyone who attends feels welcomed and accepted.

Off-Campus Housing: Haven't had much experience but positive experience

Nightlife: If you are underage the options for nightlife are pretty limited unless you go to frat parties.

Parking: Parking is ok but you have to get a permit, which is expensive. Ticketing and fines are overboard.

Campus Dining: The food is very good and you have a lot of options. Unfortunately most aren't healthy.

Campus Strictness: The Honors and Scholars Department is too strict about what classes you take and make you alter your contract every time you take a class you haven't written down in your contract. This means that when new classes are made or if you take a course equivalent of your projected class you have to go through a painful process of altering your contract.

Majors: It was very easy to get into my major, I was given an adviser right away. She's been wonderful in helping me adjust from my old school into this one. The most important criteria is just making sure that you get admitted into the school. There aren't any extra hoops that you have to jump through.

Majors: So far I have been very happy with the Theatre program. My major adviser has been so helpful in making my transfer into the program as smooth as possible. She's always emailed and called back quickly. I want to work behind the scenes in tv and movies and she's making sure that all of my classes will get me to that goal without wasting any of my time.

Scholarships: I'm still trying to get financial aid but it has been a struggle so far.

Facilities: I believe that Ohio State has some of the best traditions in the country. They also have one of the biggest base of alumni in the country. No matter where you are you can always find a Buckeye fan.

Nightlife: Nightlife at Ohio State is fantastic. On campus there are always parties to go to and, if you're over 21, plenty of bars. Off campus, you can explore the great city of Columbus, with tasty restaurants, incredible shopping, and 18+ bars that let you have the night club/dancing experience!

Greek Life: At Ohio State Greek Life isn't a necessity. Many people join, but also there are a lot of people that don't join as well.

Facilities: Many of Ohio State's facilities are very nice. The work out centers and pools are amazing and newly renovated within the last ten years. There are many different places to study; from the libraries to the union.

Campus Strictness: The biggest thing that I would say campus security is strict about is underage drinking/public intoxication. Walking around campus inebriated is not a smart decision because there are always cops (both camps and city!) that are not afraid to take action. This is not necessarily a bad thing, because their presence has made it so I have never felt unsafe around campus, but it is definitely something you have to keep in mind while making your weekend plans.

Scholarships: I had a very difficult time getting aid/scholarships through Ohio State. I applied for several different scholarships but your options were pretty limites if you didn't get a 30 or higher on your ACT. I received some loans which I opted out of taking, but overall I was very disappointed with their financial aid services.

Greek Life: Greek Life at Ohio State is prevalent but not a necessity. They definitely play a big part in the social scene (there is always a Greek party to go to, on any weekend) and they participate in some great service projects, but there are so many different way to get involved at Ohio State that going Greek will not make or break your social life. Ohio State also offers a number of professional fraternities in various fields that are a great way to make friends in your chosen career path and let you have some fun while learning about different opportunities you can take advantage of.

Weather: Classic Ohio weather. Growing up in Ohio, I was used to having a sunny 65 one day and needing my boots and a coat the next, but it can definitely be a nuisance when walking across such a big campus. I have learned to check the weather every morning before class or work and always have an umbrella with me!

Diversity: Coming from a high school with absolutely no diversity, it was nice to come to OSU and meet people from many different religions and races. However, the majority of the school is still white, but there are many resources, clubs, events, etc. that expose students to the diversity present in our school.

Health & Safety: I have never felt unsafe at Ohio State, even when walking across campus at night. The entire school is very well lit, and OSU also provides a service where, in the event that you do not feel comfortable walking by yourself, they will send a car to come and transport you to where you need to be.

Facilities: All the facilities at Ohio State seem to be top notch. Classrooms are all up to date, libraries are unbelievable. The RPAC, Arc, and 3 other rec facilities are all amazing as well. OSU has got it

Facilities: The facilities are great and majority of them are new or renovated. Most building are well insulated which helps tremendously in the winter and summer months.

There is a reason the Buckeye Nation is considered to be so devoted; an overwhelming love for OSU is evident in student responses, and in the loyalty of alumni to their alma mater. Each person has his or her own reasons for loving the University, and there are quite a few of them. Some students feel that the academics are top-notch and have found exactly the programs they wanted; others lean toward the athletic success of the Buckeye teams, while some just feel that the friendships and bonds they have made are enough to make their tenure at OSU worthwhile. At any rate, everyone can agree that being a Buckeye creates a special bond between you and nearly 50,000 other students, which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once you get past the sheer size of the University, it will really become a second home. After only a quarter of classes, you won't be able to cross the Oval without seeing someone you know. Ohio State is truly the smallest large university you will find. The people are known for their friendly attitudes, and alumni are scattered across the nation. If you choose to go to OSU, you're choosing a school with a name that's well known, both in the workplace and in the college community. Few students ever regret their time at Ohio State, and most consider their college experience to be among the best offered in the Big Ten and the country.
