Health & Safety: I always hear about people getting robbed. it is big campus and it is hard to keep every place safe. I never got robbed but it is always scary because at night, there are so many places that people might hide and attack me. It is good thing that we have stands which has emergency button everywhere in campus and it makes me feel safer.

Campus Strictness: I always heard story about accidents around campus. some people got hit by a truck or get robbed around the campus. it is pretty big campus and i'm sure that it is hard to keep every place safe. also, i see people who always talking about drinking in the dorm and i hate drinking. even my roommate have alcohols in my dorm and i'm scared that when they caught, they might blame on me.

3 College Junior

Parking: Parking permits are pretty expensive but there are some off-campus spots available

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I'm currently about to get into the Fisher program, i have heard it is very competitive and over looming workload, the overall building space of the college is very modern and exciting to go there

5 College Freshman

Facilities: Just take this: we have one of the best sports centers in the nation.

Computers: The Computers in Ohio State are slow, but the network is really fast, including the wireless. And that's enough!

3 College Freshman

Parking: I am now a freshman and there is no space for freshman to park.
But seniors told me that situation will change in the future.

4 College Junior

Academics: I am in the Masters program for Occupational Therapy and I love it! Some of the professors are a bit unorganized due to the recent change to semesters, but we are getting so much hands on/practical experience that many other programs do not get early on! I would definitely recommend the program to others because we are really learning how to be well rounded OTs. I feel like I am really being set up for success in my program.

Parking: I did my undergrad at University of Illinois and I can definitely say parking is better at OSU than U of I, but it's still not perfect. I have a C pass which is what most students can get and if you get to the closer campus lots any time after 9am, it's almost impossible to find a spot! There are lots of buses that take people from the farther lots to the main part of campus, but it's still a pain in the butt. There is also a lot of meter parking, but if you're on campus for a good chunk of the day, it sucks to have to pay so much for parking.

Off-Campus Housing: Off-campus housing can turn out to be a lot cheaper than living on-campus.
The main problems people come across is transportation and who they want to live with in the apartment.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: The university and city have a fairly safe transportation system. The dorms are sometimes empty as people party and socialize but everything is typically safe. People just have to keep their wits about them.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Ohio state has a fair number of students who are first or second generation immigrants. Some of them are actually here, while their parents are in their home country.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Ohio State is very serious about academic honesty, which isn't bad. I personally don't drink because I'm underage, however I do know quite a few people who do with little punishment because they are careful when they drink. Organizers and counselors definitely encourage social activities which is nice.

1 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Rooms are way too small, and old. In many cases, the beds cannot be un-bunked. Lighting isn't the best. The air/heating isn't controlled by students, so you're either too hot or too cold.

2 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: I, myself, don't approve of or take part in the drug culture. However, smoking is very prevalent at Ohio State. Most of my friends smoke pot and some kids I know are into heavier drugs as well.

5 College Sophomore

Transportation: Free on-campus bussing is always readily available.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: We have our own police dept on campus, so we're fairly well off. It's the off campus areas that need better patrolling sometimes.

Drug Safety: Alcohol is particularly prevalent in the off campus areas and around campus on football game days, but really it sticks to the off campus bars most of the rest of the time. Drugs are not a part of campus life, except in the shadier off campus areas

3 College Junior

Campus Strictness: The dorms are strict if you are loud and get caught but it is pretty easy to get away with drinking if you keep it quiet. Off campus I have had the police come once and it was easy to get out the back door and not get in trouble.

Facilities: Greek Life on campus is not a must like it can be at other schools but if you do join you will not regret it. Do not believe the stereotypes that sororities and fraternities are just rich children paying for friends because it is not. You meet people that you will be friends with for the rest of your life as well as people that will support you in a time of need. I was diagnosed with a condition called Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome which severely limits the daily activities down to even getting out of bed due to debilitating fatigue, extremely high heart beat among others. The girls in my sorority kept me company while in the hospital as well as making sure I was happy and comfortable while being 3000 miles from family. Joining greek life was the best decision.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: Had a mechanical engineering co-op with a GE engine parts supplier. Real life experience, money, exposure to interview process, coworker interaction, etc. is unbelievably helpful when getting an engineering degree.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: The freshman dorms are a great place to make friends. They are renovating a lot of dorms so there should be several with modern amenitites.

Health & Safety: There was a spree of crimes during the beginning of the semester.

2 College Junior

Greek Life: Greek life is a small part of Ohio State so you don't have to be in one.

1 College Freshman

Drug Safety: As a freshman, I see a lot more of this than older students. Living in a dorm, especially toward the beginning of the year, there was some wild behavior with drinking and smoking pot. The cases that were caught were punished, and rules are enforced heavily in these cases. However, there is not always a presence to catch this behavior, and often it goes unchecked.

There is a reason the Buckeye Nation is considered to be so devoted; an overwhelming love for OSU is evident in student responses, and in the loyalty of alumni to their alma mater. Each person has his or her own reasons for loving the University, and there are quite a few of them. Some students feel that the academics are top-notch and have found exactly the programs they wanted; others lean toward the athletic success of the Buckeye teams, while some just feel that the friendships and bonds they have made are enough to make their tenure at OSU worthwhile. At any rate, everyone can agree that being a Buckeye creates a special bond between you and nearly 50,000 other students, which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once you get past the sheer size of the University, it will really become a second home. After only a quarter of classes, you won't be able to cross the Oval without seeing someone you know. Ohio State is truly the smallest large university you will find. The people are known for their friendly attitudes, and alumni are scattered across the nation. If you choose to go to OSU, you're choosing a school with a name that's well known, both in the workplace and in the college community. Few students ever regret their time at Ohio State, and most consider their college experience to be among the best offered in the Big Ten and the country.
