5 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Very popular school for partying. There are a lot of bars and clubs around the area and it's easy to find something to do if you want to go out.

Off-Campus Dining: So much variety depending on where you go. Short North has a lot of very nice restaurants and bars and the Arena district has some nice bars and family restaurants as well.

Campus Strictness: Doesn't seem particularly strict to me outside normal standards. However, I haven't lived in the dorms, I've only lived off campus. Regardless, on campus rules don't seem very far fetched compared to some schools.

Transportation: buses run all the time and there is campus security that will give students rides late at night if needed

4 College Freshman

Academics: There are many many many different classes you can take in almost any subject or field. The professors are friendly and always are willing to give you the help you need.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: There are many different types of people here. There are about 30,000 of each so there are plenty of people to meet.

4 College Freshman

Academics: The work load is perfect because although you do get assignments to do, you aren't swimming in piles of them if you don't procrastinate. Professors are helpful and are willing to meet outside of class to provide assistance to students. The campus is beautiful and the people here are friendly.

Athletics: Fan involvement is a huge factor and support at osu.

Campus Strictness: I don't see too many people getting busted or too much enforcement going on.

Local Atmosphere: Activities are everywhere on and around campus. The scenery is beautiful. Lots of events on campus and shopping, restaurants, bars, etc around campus.

Off-Campus Dining: It's everywhere, that's for sure. The prices are good, and there variety is incredible. The further down High street you go, either way, the more variety you'll get and the more opportunities you'll have to experience something new.

Off-Campus Housing: Most houses are old, some a bit run down, and all quite pricey if you decide to live quite close to campus. There are a few gems, but most are average.

Local Atmosphere: The university atmosphere is filled with people all looking to achieve the same goal and thus creates a very friendly and helpful atmosphere. However, it is a large city and with a large city comes a small community of people who's goals differ from the rest, but overall, I love the atmosphere and wouldn't trade it for any other campus.

Campus Strictness: The level of strictness on campus is just right. It goes by the general rule of 'don't be a douchebag and we don't care'.

Greek Life: Though I am not personally involved in greek life, it is definitely alive and well on campus. I believe we have some of the strongest greek communities in the country and their presence is known fairly well even to non-greeks.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: The prevalence of drug use is dependent on who your friends are. Overall, drinking is much more common.

Scholarships: I did not receive much financial aid, but what I did receive was better than many people got. I am happy with it.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: While living in a city there are always chances for crimes. I have heard of them happening on campus but i have not personally seen anything criminal. It feels very safe to me on campus.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are many places to eat off campus. But they are all pretty expensive for us poor college students!

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Since there are so many students here, you will literally find every possible kind of person here. The people I've encountered are all very friendly, or at least respectful, and very casual as far as dress and expectations. Students are involved in all kinds of activities and no one treats you differently based on your choices of what to get involved in. You can even create your own club if you want! The best way to describe students here is diverse.

Computers: Every library on campus has computers available, although it is hard to find a computer during finals or midterms. There are also computer labs for certain majors, which is nice once you've declared a major since they are not always crowded. I have my own printer, but I hear the university's printers and charges are not unreasonable. The network is sometimes unreliable, but the speed is good, and when there is a problem, tech crews are usually on top of it. I would strongly suggest bringing your own computer if you want the freedom of working when you want and need.

Diversity: There are so many people on this campus, and you can always find someone who suits you perfectly. You can make friends for life on this campus!

There is a reason the Buckeye Nation is considered to be so devoted; an overwhelming love for OSU is evident in student responses, and in the loyalty of alumni to their alma mater. Each person has his or her own reasons for loving the University, and there are quite a few of them. Some students feel that the academics are top-notch and have found exactly the programs they wanted; others lean toward the athletic success of the Buckeye teams, while some just feel that the friendships and bonds they have made are enough to make their tenure at OSU worthwhile. At any rate, everyone can agree that being a Buckeye creates a special bond between you and nearly 50,000 other students, which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once you get past the sheer size of the University, it will really become a second home. After only a quarter of classes, you won't be able to cross the Oval without seeing someone you know. Ohio State is truly the smallest large university you will find. The people are known for their friendly attitudes, and alumni are scattered across the nation. If you choose to go to OSU, you're choosing a school with a name that's well known, both in the workplace and in the college community. Few students ever regret their time at Ohio State, and most consider their college experience to be among the best offered in the Big Ten and the country.
