Greek Life: Greek life can help you receive recognition from others in Greek life, but generally isn't very important at Ohio State by itself. Often they are simply just seen as party students, while there are some outliers who are known to be more productive members of society, and largely, Greek housing takes up a few streets off-campus.

Athletics: Varsity sports are a great source of income for the University. However, being a club sport member it is unfortunate that we do not get any benefits form the university especially NO funds whatsoever. Some sports are only club and will never reach varsity status and it is unfair to those students who are members of those clubs.

Weather: When it is hot, it's hot. Same with the cold in the winter. Lots of time spent outside walking around campus. But there is a campus bus service for when it is raining or just too cold to walk.

Diversity: Depending on your major, you may see a very diverse student body. In the engineering majors we see many different ethnicities and backgrounds.

Off-Campus Dining: Columbus has pretty much anything and everything you could ever want to eat! There is such a great diversity of cultures in Columbus that really helps to contribute to the variety of food available. Price ranges vary from cheap college kid prices to super pricey food, but it all tastes good! Almost anything you want is within walking distance from campus or easily accessible from the bus line. One place I would definitely check out is Bodega. It has a really cool vibe. It's a sit down restaurant, and prices are about average ($7-$15), and the food is excellent!

Majors: I will start my program in International Studies this fall, so as of yet I am unsure how difficult it will be to get through the program. But, aside from not having any experience in the program yet, I have talked to many different advisers who have a degree in International Studies. The advisers have been very encouraging about the major and have made me excited for the many different possibilities for different jobs when I graduate.

Health & Safety: We get emails about different crimes that happen around campus in order to keep us up to date on the information. Students can always call campus security to drive them somewhere on campus or if they are feeling unsafe. I usually do not feel unsafe on campus but it changes a little when you go farther off campus.

Nightlife: There are many clubs on high street that people can go to in order to hangout with friends and have some fun. There are certain days of the week that people 18 and over are allowed into the club so make sure you know what days you can go to the different clubs.

Facilities: The rpac on campus is awesome and is a great place to work out or play sports with your friends. There are many libraries on campus that are great for students to spend as much time needed to study at any time. The oval is a place for everyone to hangout between or after classes. This is where people play frisbee, bring their dogs, suntan, and meet new friends.

Weather: It's Ohio weather. There's hot, cold, rainy, snowy, sunny, cloudy, whatever you can think of. It's very unpredictable but school will almost never get cancelled because of it. Just have clothes for all kinds of weather.

Academics: I love the professors for allowing us to use our critical thinking to solve problems and process new information.

4 College Junior

Academics: I am very pleased. My professors are very knowledgeable and are very open and respectful to me as a student.

4 College Junior

Campus Strictness: I am very pleased with my campus and the expectations.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: There are so many different dorm buildings it depends where you live. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. The most important thing is to get a social floor that gets along.

5 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The university is willing to work with you and there are many huge scholarship opportunities.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: The police and school authorities are very lenient as long as you treat them with respect and don't do any thing stupid

2 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: The dorms are ridiculously crowded for a college that makes so much money. Although there are some nice ones, most are in need of a renovation. More facilities should be added so they aren't so crowded.

4 College Freshman

Academics: Classes are challenging but that only pushes students to do their absolute best. Professors and teaching assisants are very willing to help and will do so any way they can. A lot of work is sometimes required but it is well worth it, especially at such an amazing university.

Transportation: Campus and local area buses are a great mode of transportaion for students and are accessible from almost anywhere on or near campus. Buses are running almost constantly and you are sure to get where you need to be.

3 College Freshman

Computers: There are numerous computers to use in a variety of camous locations however, some just aren't as reliable as I'd like. Also, when its testing time, computers are scarce and Wifi can get testy.

Majors: Engineering department is amazing and I totally would do it again. I want to be a Disney imagineer and design/build parade floats.

5 College Freshman

Nightlife: You can always find some place to go and have fun. The cops hardly bust parties unless people are there that aren't wanted or if they are harmed by the guests.

5 College Freshman

Majors: There is such a variety and Ohio State University is prominent for majority of them. If you don't know what you want to do they for sure help you find out within your first year and even plan what classes to take so that once you figure it out you aren't behind and can graduate in 4 years.

2 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: There are many off-campus housing choices. There are tons of houses to rent, as well as apartment complexes that offer one and two bedroom units for those who prefer not to live with a house full of people. The issue is that much of the off campus housing is close to the ghetto, and there is a lot of crime, including gunpoint robberies. Many of the houses tend to be outdated and expensive.

2 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: I am giving an average grade. Ohio State is a huge campus, so there are tons of people. The guys tend to be athletic and in good shape, but many of them are party boys and are not looking for relationships. Many of the girls are sloppy drunks.

There is a reason the Buckeye Nation is considered to be so devoted; an overwhelming love for OSU is evident in student responses, and in the loyalty of alumni to their alma mater. Each person has his or her own reasons for loving the University, and there are quite a few of them. Some students feel that the academics are top-notch and have found exactly the programs they wanted; others lean toward the athletic success of the Buckeye teams, while some just feel that the friendships and bonds they have made are enough to make their tenure at OSU worthwhile. At any rate, everyone can agree that being a Buckeye creates a special bond between you and nearly 50,000 other students, which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once you get past the sheer size of the University, it will really become a second home. After only a quarter of classes, you won't be able to cross the Oval without seeing someone you know. Ohio State is truly the smallest large university you will find. The people are known for their friendly attitudes, and alumni are scattered across the nation. If you choose to go to OSU, you're choosing a school with a name that's well known, both in the workplace and in the college community. Few students ever regret their time at Ohio State, and most consider their college experience to be among the best offered in the Big Ten and the country.
