College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I didn't and don't live on campus, so I cannot give a rating. Only based on things I have heard

Local Atmosphere: OSU sports are huge, there's the professional soccer and hockey teams. Lots of parks, trails, and water sport activities. Good shopping areas.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Still waiting to hear about my options, even though I completed the FAFSA and paperwork months ago....

Off-Campus Dining: Good mixture of local and chain places. Not far to downtown where there are more options

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Depends on areas. There are "nice" areas that are near the hospital and residential neighborhoods, but others that are closer to downtown are really shady and still expensive.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Its like most other universities. They do "look the other way" at more privileged students and athletes.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I don't worry often about my safety on campus as I am only down there for classes usually during the daylight hours. I would be more hesitant if I was there at night and walking by myself

Computers: Printing is already included (to a certain amount of pages) in my tuition so since I am paying for it I like to use it in the computer labs.

Campus Strictness: I do not live on campus so do not encounter all of these. For the most part I have found that administration will treat you as adults when you act like one. If you choose to not show up to class or come in late that is your own choice and your grade will probably reflect that

Off-Campus Dining: It is mostly fast food restaurant chains. To get an actual nice, sit down restaurant you have to travel further off campus

Majors: There are lots of options to choose from. Though the competitiveness backfires if your GPA does not stack up and you are unable to then study what you want to study.

Majors: I am currently trying to get into Finance through Fisher and have already been turned down twice based solely on my GPA not be competitive enough. It has not mattered how I do in finance courses or that I use finance applications in my job which is incredibly stressful and discouraging.

Off-Campus Housing: I am currently searching for off campus housing and feel that it is overpriced for old, run down places.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I do not live in on campus housing

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: I use the CABS buses daily and think it is a great amenity. They could definitely stand to add a few more buses though as I am sure that capacity limits are easily surpassed

4 College Sophomore

Nightlife: I do not participate in the night life much, though all my friends seem to thoroughly enjoy it.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: There is a lot of school pride when it comes to athletics. Go Bucks!

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: The atmosphere is good. There is lots to do around campus

4 College Sophomore

Academics: I thoroughly enjoy most of my classes

2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: College is expensive and financial aid just accumulates great interest on top of the debt already accrued.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: The snow, cold, or rain make walking across campus tough though the sunny nice days are even more enjoyable on campus

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: It not bad compared to the mass of all universities, but for how much this school costs and its semi-prestigious status, I think they completely overprice food and use this block system to take as much money as possible from the students to increase their revenue and profits. We already pay an excessive amount for admission into the university (especially us out-of-state students) and there's no way a small breakfast sandwich should cost $4.75.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: There a bunch of cool places to see around Columbus from what I know, the activities are endless being that you're right in a city and in a college campus, there are countless of cultural events especially with "D.I.C.E.", and most students are mutually respectful and friendly.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: The university honestly can't do more than it already does without infringing on someone's individual rights, I think if anyone is being unsafe its their own fault. At this point in life you shouldn't succumb to peer pressure; policy enforcement is also omnipresent as they are constantly communicating the message of safety to the student body; and visibility of these substances depends on who you hang out with honestly.

3 College Freshman

Parking: Don't have a car so honestly not too sure.

There is a reason the Buckeye Nation is considered to be so devoted; an overwhelming love for OSU is evident in student responses, and in the loyalty of alumni to their alma mater. Each person has his or her own reasons for loving the University, and there are quite a few of them. Some students feel that the academics are top-notch and have found exactly the programs they wanted; others lean toward the athletic success of the Buckeye teams, while some just feel that the friendships and bonds they have made are enough to make their tenure at OSU worthwhile. At any rate, everyone can agree that being a Buckeye creates a special bond between you and nearly 50,000 other students, which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once you get past the sheer size of the University, it will really become a second home. After only a quarter of classes, you won't be able to cross the Oval without seeing someone you know. Ohio State is truly the smallest large university you will find. The people are known for their friendly attitudes, and alumni are scattered across the nation. If you choose to go to OSU, you're choosing a school with a name that's well known, both in the workplace and in the college community. Few students ever regret their time at Ohio State, and most consider their college experience to be among the best offered in the Big Ten and the country.
