Weather: The weather is sporadic and unpredictable. It's not uncommon to see students wearing flip flops and shorts with a winter coat. Winters are too long.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Sports, especially football are a HUGE deal. There are always events going on, ranging from comedy shows to cultural awareness fairs. There is something for everyone to get involved in.

5 College Junior

Campus Strictness: The campus is pretty lenient on most issues as long as it doesn't get too out of control

5 College Junior

Guys & Girls: With the large number of students there are great social oportunities

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: On campus and off campus both relatively safe but there is some crime off campus

5 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Big city atmosphere with endless opportunities to explore.

3 College Junior

Computers: Campus labs can get crowded at times but wireless network always works.

3 College Junior

Weather: The weather is usually nice in fall and spring but can get pretty bad during the winter months.

5 College Junior

Transportation: Ohio State has a great transportation system with multiple bus lines and many stops all around campus.

5 College Junior

Majors: Ohio State has very good programs to help you find an internship.

5 College Junior

Majors: Ohio State has very good teachers for engineering and many opportunities outside of the classroom

5 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Very wide range of affordable options close to campus

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I have used to health center, it is of good quality, however required me to miss several classes.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: A wide variety of restaurants to choose from, at a variety of prices. Very close in walking distance.

Facilities: OSU has a beautiful, and very functional campus. I live in a brand new dorm, so I may have a slightly biased opinion, however I have had a wonderful experience with all of the facilities at Ohio State. Our student Union is magnificent, and so are the various gyms on campus. The best part about Ohio State is that if there is a facility that you are not particularly fond of, there is almost always another one of the same kind that you can find! For example if you don't like the JO South gym by your dorm, another gym is most likely only about a five or ten minute walk! So you can choose facilities that fit your tastes.

Off-Campus Housing: I am currently going through the process of searching for off-campus housing right now. I have set up several appointments with Realtors, however many upperclassman live off campus, so I am assuming the process will be relatively smooth. There is an incredible amount of variety in pricing of off campus housing, as well as variety of location.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: On campus transportation is wonderful, and we even have an app telling you how many minutes until the next bus arrives. Usually about 5 minutes until the next bus, they run very frequently. As for the Columbus area busing, a bus pass is included in tuition costs, which allows each students University ID to be used as a bus pass for the COTA bus, Anywhere you want to go in Columbus, you can find a way to get there.

2 College Freshman

Computers: I have my own laptop, so I have not had much experience with the computers on campus. However, when I have walked through all the libraries on campus, it seems that they are generally crowded. I am sure it is very possible to find times and ways to get on computers here on campus, however it is very convenient having your own computer from my experience.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: People at Ohio State are from all around the world. However, in regards to international students, most come from East Asia. Yet, what I have found to be most diverse here is the personalities of students. I have met people with beliefs, and opinions that I have never even considered before. The diversity here has enhanced my experience, and is something OSU takes very seriously and is always looking to improve.

Weather: Weather here is truly Ohio weather. It is all over the place, however I have grown up in Ohio so I am used to this. As long as you are prepared with appropriate clothing you will be fine! The campus bus system is wonderful, and very quick too so in the winter, there are ways to get around this large campus while also staying warm.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: I love Columbus more than I could have imagined. It is the perfect balance between a larger city with plenty of opportunity, but not one that is too large that you feel lost in the crowd. Ohio State's campus is also nearly a city in itself, which if you are wondering, after a semester here I can tell you is truly an awesome quality to have. However, coming from a small town Columbus has also taught me to be more aware of my surroundings and has prepared me for the real world outside of the bubble of Louisville, OH that I grew up in. Just being aware and being smart have been enough to make me feel very safe in this environment. On campus is incredibly safe, and off campus is fine, and I often see police visible all around Columbus, enhancing my sense of security. As for shopping, Urban Outfitters is right on campus, as well as the entire Short North Shopping District within walking distance. As for actual Malls, there are several within a 20 minute drive, which are also available by bus. The opportunity to have fun here is astounding, because the location has so many advantages.

Transportation: They honestly need more buses or another form of campus transportation... hello Wittenburg... can osu get some underground tunnels to help with winter safety?

Campus Strictness: Average overall for strictness, it was a bit difficult to start a new student organization, it took several signatures and meetings over the course of weeks to get anything started and then to be able to get classroom reservation access.

Scholarships: I am still paying student loans and I will be for many years to come and I was a top student in my classes.

Academics: Some of the best professors I've ever had. However... the tenured professors are terrible. OSU needs to come up with a better system there are few professors in all departments who you can't understand, they seem lost in their own world, they are just terrible and yet they are still there year after year when all the students rate them terribly.

There is a reason the Buckeye Nation is considered to be so devoted; an overwhelming love for OSU is evident in student responses, and in the loyalty of alumni to their alma mater. Each person has his or her own reasons for loving the University, and there are quite a few of them. Some students feel that the academics are top-notch and have found exactly the programs they wanted; others lean toward the athletic success of the Buckeye teams, while some just feel that the friendships and bonds they have made are enough to make their tenure at OSU worthwhile. At any rate, everyone can agree that being a Buckeye creates a special bond between you and nearly 50,000 other students, which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once you get past the sheer size of the University, it will really become a second home. After only a quarter of classes, you won't be able to cross the Oval without seeing someone you know. Ohio State is truly the smallest large university you will find. The people are known for their friendly attitudes, and alumni are scattered across the nation. If you choose to go to OSU, you're choosing a school with a name that's well known, both in the workplace and in the college community. Few students ever regret their time at Ohio State, and most consider their college experience to be among the best offered in the Big Ten and the country.
