Computers: I have my own laptop, so I have not had much experience with the computers on campus. However, when I have walked through all the libraries on campus, it seems that they are generally crowded. I am sure it is very possible to find times and ways to get on computers here on campus, however it is very convenient having your own computer from my experience.

Diversity: People at Ohio State are from all around the world. However, in regards to international students, most come from East Asia. Yet, what I have found to be most diverse here is the personalities of students. I have met people with beliefs, and opinions that I have never even considered before. The diversity here has enhanced my experience, and is something OSU takes very seriously and is always looking to improve.

Weather: Weather here is truly Ohio weather. It is all over the place, however I have grown up in Ohio so I am used to this. As long as you are prepared with appropriate clothing you will be fine! The campus bus system is wonderful, and very quick too so in the winter, there are ways to get around this large campus while also staying warm.

Local Atmosphere: I love Columbus more than I could have imagined. It is the perfect balance between a larger city with plenty of opportunity, but not one that is too large that you feel lost in the crowd. Ohio State's campus is also nearly a city in itself, which if you are wondering, after a semester here I can tell you is truly an awesome quality to have. However, coming from a small town Columbus has also taught me to be more aware of my surroundings and has prepared me for the real world outside of the bubble of Louisville, OH that I grew up in. Just being aware and being smart have been enough to make me feel very safe in this environment. On campus is incredibly safe, and off campus is fine, and I often see police visible all around Columbus, enhancing my sense of security. As for shopping, Urban Outfitters is right on campus, as well as the entire Short North Shopping District within walking distance. As for actual Malls, there are several within a 20 minute drive, which are also available by bus. The opportunity to have fun here is astounding, because the location has so many advantages.

Transportation: They honestly need more buses or another form of campus transportation... hello Wittenburg... can osu get some underground tunnels to help with winter safety?

2 Recent Alumnus

Campus Strictness: Average overall for strictness, it was a bit difficult to start a new student organization, it took several signatures and meetings over the course of weeks to get anything started and then to be able to get classroom reservation access.

Scholarships: I am still paying student loans and I will be for many years to come and I was a top student in my classes.

Academics: Some of the best professors I've ever had. However... the tenured professors are terrible. OSU needs to come up with a better system there are few professors in all departments who you can't understand, they seem lost in their own world, they are just terrible and yet they are still there year after year when all the students rate them terribly.

Academics: There are not a lot of internship opportunities and I feel that the programs themselves are decent. The facilities definitely need more work. OSU needs to massive overhaul on the older buildings on campus to get them updated.

Parking: OSU has been outsourcing their parking and the rates have sky-rocketed. It is wayyyyyyyy overpriced and too expensive.

Nightlife: Pretty average for a city university. Nothing super special.

Off-Campus Housing: Off-campus housing is rather mundane and terrible. I was a commut. because there are way better options in nearby suburbs of Columbus.

Guys & Girls: overall, OSU students are average. Some snobby girls who wear uggs instead of real winter shoes usually fall into the slushy snow in the winter... but that's their own fault.

Majors: I am still looking for a job with the federal government and I graduated several years ago. The facilities are decent... They could be better... some buildings are amazing and brand new others are run-down and freezing in the winter.

3 Recent Alumnus

Majors: Loads of undergraduate programs... but for the life of me... why if Internationals Studies is one of the largest and most popular undergraduate programs is there no graduate school?

2 Recent Alumnus

Campus Dining: Campus fair is average... I feel that it is very very pricey and the campus could do more to make it more affordable for those who are not from wealthy millionaire parents.

4 Recent Alumnus

Drug Safety: OSU is a relatively clean campus, I never saw illegal drug use publicly and smoking is not allowed on the campus public spaces.

Athletics: Being one of the top sports teams in the country, OSU provides great amenities for student athletes that the student body gets to enjoy.

2 Recent Alumnus

Weather: Ohio weather is pretty basic with four full-blown seasons of the year... you'll want some rainboots and an umbrella... and definitely some winter boots, gloves, hats, and heavy coat.

Greek Life: There are several sororities and frats available on campus to join.

Diversity: There is a lot of diversity in the school. Students come from everywhere in and out of the country and everyone has a different background.

Off-Campus Dining: There is a variety of places to eat. Many are chains but there are also small holes in the wall that are really good. High street is covered in restaurants and whatever you are craving you can find it there.

Athletics: We are big on football. Everything revolves around sports and we have some of the best fans in the country. Sports even for those who don't really like them brings the school together and creates an atmosphere you can't get anywhere else.

Majors: I am in the first group in the new Early Childhood major at OSU and it is now a licensing program. It is a lot of work and an extended program time, but it gets you out of school ready to work. My program is one of the best in the country.

Majors: I am currently in student teaching and will spend a lot more time in student teaching in the future with my major. It has been a great experience through my program. There are many opportunities to find internships and jobs through the school.

There is a reason the Buckeye Nation is considered to be so devoted; an overwhelming love for OSU is evident in student responses, and in the loyalty of alumni to their alma mater. Each person has his or her own reasons for loving the University, and there are quite a few of them. Some students feel that the academics are top-notch and have found exactly the programs they wanted; others lean toward the athletic success of the Buckeye teams, while some just feel that the friendships and bonds they have made are enough to make their tenure at OSU worthwhile. At any rate, everyone can agree that being a Buckeye creates a special bond between you and nearly 50,000 other students, which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once you get past the sheer size of the University, it will really become a second home. After only a quarter of classes, you won't be able to cross the Oval without seeing someone you know. Ohio State is truly the smallest large university you will find. The people are known for their friendly attitudes, and alumni are scattered across the nation. If you choose to go to OSU, you're choosing a school with a name that's well known, both in the workplace and in the college community. Few students ever regret their time at Ohio State, and most consider their college experience to be among the best offered in the Big Ten and the country.
