4 College Freshman

Majors: The major I have now is dance, and it is the reason I decided to go out of state. The opportunities that the major provides outside the world of dance is amazing and I believe it is the same with other majors as well. There is a reason why OSU is one of the biggest schools in the US, and having an abundance of majors with good quality is probably one of the reasons.

Drug Safety: I don't know so much about the drug scene at OSU because I don't hang around people who do such things. But I have heard stories about certain drug use, but it is not apparent when walking on campus. Also, the university as a strict policy enforcement about the use of drugs and I believe it is pretty useful.

Nightlife: Ohio State is such a big school so parties are held everywhere. In South Campus there is a section where there are clubs and movie theaters and a great nightlife experience. Also, there is bus transportation by the city and the University that is free with school ID which makes going places much easier.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: Email is great just remember to use you OSU email or they can't do anything for you online.

Campus Strictness: Parking is STRICTLY enforced, as well as towing. In addition, J-walking can get you a $200 ticket. When there were bomb threats at the school, police vehicles and officers were all over campus, which made me feel safe.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: Campus area transportation is nice, however, schedules are only posted by the union, and whenever I have used the text messaging system, it has been inaccurate. The bus app is also a hit or a miss personally. However, I know that the buses are always running and the use of it is basically free.

Transportation: C.a.b.s. Bus system is great, The city buses are also very helpful.

Weather: Fall and spring is decent. Winters are long, grey, cold and seem to last forever.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: There are a good amount of scholarships available, but I have found it difficult to find out how to apply for them. I have also found that there are not many scholarships available for adult students. I did receive a grant from OSU that was very helpful.

Drug Safety: Drinking is pretty common, as well as light marijuana use. The use of Adderall for academic purposes is also somewhat common. I have not noticed much hard drugs being used. I do not feel pressured to use any drugs although going to party's and not drinking can be tough.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: The options are seemingly healthy, but not actually. Most things are over priced

Facilities: Ohio State always is expanding and upgrading. They just recently equipped most of the South Campus dorms with A/C, we also have brand new Ohio Union, and main library. The workout facilities are have up to date equipment. Just this year we resurfaced all 8 basketball courts in the remarkable RPAC which is the main workout facility. The only thing that held me back from giving this university an A+ was that Bolz hall and some of the other engineering buildings could use some renovations.

Guys & Girls: There is a large diversity of guys and girls at OSU. They range in their looks from preppy to athletic to dressing up daily and everything in between. We have so many different groups all over campus that interests can range from Greek life, artsy students, theater kids, science and mathletes, to regular everyday guys and girl. There are plenty of guys and girls who seem to workout non-stop to those who could care less. There are plenty who would seem to just like to go out and party, and those that seem to be there for studies alone. Relationships I'm sure are very diverse. Personally I have been in a long term relationship but I know plenty of people who are just looking for a weekend hookup. There are guys and girls for anyone and everyone to get along with.

Diversity: There is a large diversity of races, religion, political beliefs, and sexual orientation at OSU. I would say that the acceptance for these groups is quite good. There are so many clubs and groups that embrace these difference and have events and do so many positive things for the university. Some people may think it can't be that diverse because it's Ohio and there can only be a bunch of "rednecks" but that couldn't be further from the truth. I don't think I have run into one "redneck" within my first year on campus. We have students from all over the state, the country, along with many international students. I'd say that OSU is a very diverse campus and very accepting of anyone who is considered a "minority".

Facilities: Ohio State has many excellent facilities available for students to use. The Wexner Center is my favorite building on campus I would have to say. It is used for many purposes such as for concerts, gallery showings, international film nights, dance performances and many other interesting cultural displays. If you have chance to go the Wex you won't be disappointed!

Majors: As a Biology major student i really enjoy the sciences i must take. My major has me taking very interesting classes with labs that i really enjoy. I would definitely pick it again. Plus it helps me get the classes i need for medical school.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: Im in Ohio state University and i really enjoy it. It is a good school to go to and will look good when applying to medical schools. Plus it has its own medical school that i could apply for.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: the process of getting into my Biology major was relatively easy. i had no special applications to fill out. I was just asked which major i would enjoy and i chose Biology because i wanted to be prepared for medical school.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: i have not had an internship, but i am a biology major so i have recently applied for one at some hospitals. i would be unpaid and doing simple tasks like answering phone calls and seri up appointments.

3 College Junior

Weather: It's Ohio, so the weather is kind of unpredictable. But OSU does a really good job of cleaning up after snow/storms.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: A lot of chains, but if you go off campus a little farther, it gets a lot better.

5 College Junior

Guys & Girls: This is such a large school that literally everyone can make friends. No matter what you are looking for, there will be someone here who is looking for the same thing. And the numerous clubs help find exactly what you're looking for.

4 College Senior

Athletics: great varsity sports, great intramural sports activities. best part of ohio state- almost too much emphasis on sports and not enough at all on everything else

2 College Senior

Academics: professors are very hit or miss, especially in the GEC courses. good experiences with liberal arts professors and foreign language. registration is relatively easy, workload good on quarters, too much on semesters, guidance counselors rude and offer little direction

2 College Senior

Parking: cost of pass is not terriblle, appreciate it is returnable and difference not used refunded, getting the pass way a crowded long lined nightmare. OSU has so much staff yet is incredibly inefficient, rude, impatient, and impersonal. towing around the area is over-kill and i could truly not afford all the towing. i felt paranoid parking anywhere

There is a reason the Buckeye Nation is considered to be so devoted; an overwhelming love for OSU is evident in student responses, and in the loyalty of alumni to their alma mater. Each person has his or her own reasons for loving the University, and there are quite a few of them. Some students feel that the academics are top-notch and have found exactly the programs they wanted; others lean toward the athletic success of the Buckeye teams, while some just feel that the friendships and bonds they have made are enough to make their tenure at OSU worthwhile. At any rate, everyone can agree that being a Buckeye creates a special bond between you and nearly 50,000 other students, which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once you get past the sheer size of the University, it will really become a second home. After only a quarter of classes, you won't be able to cross the Oval without seeing someone you know. Ohio State is truly the smallest large university you will find. The people are known for their friendly attitudes, and alumni are scattered across the nation. If you choose to go to OSU, you're choosing a school with a name that's well known, both in the workplace and in the college community. Few students ever regret their time at Ohio State, and most consider their college experience to be among the best offered in the Big Ten and the country.
