4 College Senior

Nightlife: The Columbus nightlife is fantastic with a wide variety of bars.

Athletics: Ohio State is one the premier athletic institutions in the country.

Campus Housing: It depends on what landlord you rent from. I've had both ends of the spectrum.

3 College Senior

Transportation: Campus shuttles are free and cover most of campus and off campus areas. If you have an BuckId, the COTA buses are free as well.

4 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: Being a part of Columbus is evident and integral to the Ohio State experience. There is always something to do and often too much.

Weather: The weather is mostly very cold and windy. It makes going outside in the winter months unbearable

Off-Campus Dining: Off campus dining is always open!

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Love the entire atmosphere of the city accompanied by college students.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: You have to start looking very early and it is often safer to live on campus. So next year I will be staying on campus but then I plan on moving off campus for my junior year.

2 College Freshman

Weather: The winter is the absolute worse. It is very cold and the weather is always very unpredictable.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are some very good places to eat all around, but i already spend so much on my meal plan that I dont eat off campus much.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: I do not participate in Greek life, but many people love it.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: I don't go out very much, but there are tons of bars and clubs around. Also you could walk down most streets off of high street and find a party on Fridays and Saturdays.

5 College Freshman

Academics: Classes can be difficult but I have learned a lot. You have to work hard but it is worth it.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Campus housing is really nice and I feel safe. On the contrast it is very expensive, the rooms are tiny and the the bathrooms are often dirty, out of toilet paper, and paper towels.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: There is a lot to do but so many options it can be hard to choose. I also don't get to go out much because I have a very demanding major.

4 College Freshman

Computers: I have my own lap top so I have never used the labs. I hear they are pretty accessible though. The wireless internet is great! It is quick and available on everywhere around campus.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: The buses are easy to use and free. They take a while to get where your going as it does on all buses because of the frequent stops.

3 College Freshman

Computers: The wireless tends to go down once in a while and some people sometimes have trouble connecting. Printing for engineering majors is free through our building on campus. The wireless is usually pretty fast, when it is working. There are computers available all over campus, but I would suggest bringing a laptop or our own personal computer for general use because the campus ones are not always available.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: I do not really know much about Greek life since Freshman cannot apply until the have at least one semester under their belt. I think that many of them have a good charity cause though.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: There are always bars and clubs to go to on High street. And one is likely to find a block party at one or more of the off campus housing streets. There are also generally parties, starting Thursdays, somewhere on South campus.

5 College Freshman

Academics: The engineering staff is phenomenal. They are always readily available to provide assistance to anyone who needs it. The workload is tough, for the honors program, but that is to be expected. The scheduling is well coordinated to provide us with every chance to succeed though. All of the facilities are state of the art and foster teamwork and study skills within the class room.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: The busses are clean but the schedules tend to be unreliable. The cabs are overpriced and sometimes are not the nicest or safest choices.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There are not generally issues on campus, but down High Street and in the Frat and Sorority areas there is sometimes trouble, as well as areas with off campus housing.

5 College Freshman

Diversity: There are so many different groups of people on campus. There is an annual drag show for the LGBTQ community and other students who want to help them. There are plenty of student organizations for people from every background imaginable.

There is a reason the Buckeye Nation is considered to be so devoted; an overwhelming love for OSU is evident in student responses, and in the loyalty of alumni to their alma mater. Each person has his or her own reasons for loving the University, and there are quite a few of them. Some students feel that the academics are top-notch and have found exactly the programs they wanted; others lean toward the athletic success of the Buckeye teams, while some just feel that the friendships and bonds they have made are enough to make their tenure at OSU worthwhile. At any rate, everyone can agree that being a Buckeye creates a special bond between you and nearly 50,000 other students, which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once you get past the sheer size of the University, it will really become a second home. After only a quarter of classes, you won't be able to cross the Oval without seeing someone you know. Ohio State is truly the smallest large university you will find. The people are known for their friendly attitudes, and alumni are scattered across the nation. If you choose to go to OSU, you're choosing a school with a name that's well known, both in the workplace and in the college community. Few students ever regret their time at Ohio State, and most consider their college experience to be among the best offered in the Big Ten and the country.
