4 College Freshman

Academics: My classes are challenging but relatively small so I get good help from professors. However, avoid the chemistry program.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: I am in the process of rushing and I couldn't be happier. OSU is very anti-hazing and the process is very well handled and explained.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Most RA's will just confiscate your alcohol. Few actually write you up. Being written up in itself is hardly a big deal either.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I chose to go here, reluctantly, because it was very cheap. However, it was the best choice of my life. Classes are extremely challenging but the professors are very good. The spirit here is astounding, everyone here loves their life and their school.

Athletics: We have some of the best facilities and sports in Ohio and the nation.

Weather: All four seasons are seen, and the view from Thompson Library at the end of the oval makes any other the seasons more than bearable.

Academics: Advisors, professors, coordinators, and peers are all very willing to work with others to make the "college experience" exactly what you would like as an individual.

Academics: The sciences are popular among the majority of students therefore the lab equipment is usually new and in good condition. However due to the popularity spots for needed classes tend to fill up rather quickly and graduating "on time" requires a heavy workload in most cases.

Parking: Parking enforcement varies, often drivers do not realize te freedom given on weekends or after "busy" hours allowing parking in lots and spaces not normally available.

Health & Safety: Safety is addressed but not necessarily noticeable on campus. Although there are police, they are not often seen interacting with students or faculty.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: When there's not something happening on campus, which is almost never, the cit life is right on the edge of campus. Gallery hopping, concerts, and dining are just a few options for a night or day "on the town".

3 College Freshman

Transportation: As a commuter having a car can put certain pressures on you as a frequent option for leaving campus.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Ohio State offers academic, social, and service opportunities; shaping students into well rounded citizens. With a beautiful campus and lovely people, it's a home away from home.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: The strictness and leniency vary upon topic, but for drinking in the dorms there should be a stricter punishment.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are a great variety of dining options off campus which vary in price depending on the style you are looking for.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: Everyone is involved in some sort of activity and fall semester revolves around football season.

College Freshman

Computers: I have not used any of the computers on campus due to owning a laptop, but rarely have problems with wireless connection even in heavily populated areas.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Off-Campus housing may allow more freedom but the process to find a house or apartment that's affordable can be difficult.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Campus encompasses a multitude of religions, ethnicities, and sexual orientations. Everyone is welcome and treated equally in my opinion.

Campus Housing: You are either in a awesome dorm or an awful cramped dorm that is out of the way.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I love the school pride and the sports and academics. I did not get placed in the best living situation though so coming from out of state has been difficult because i am a freshman on a floor with sophomores a lot of whom don't talk.

College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: i am a frehsman so i have undergone the process for looking for a house yet. but i have friends that have.

College Freshman

Academics: I just declared the major so i do not know much about it at this time.

4 College Freshman

Academics: Classes are big yes but that has not stopped the professors from being engaging and helpful. Also the classes that are big are gen-eds. But students get assigned a TA and there are plenty of office hours to go to for help. Academics are tough. Students should do readings and are responsible for their work and professors are willing to help but they won't help you if you don't show that you care.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: There is a lot of diversity on campus for dining. There are all you can eat and there are diners and cafes and cafeterias. There really is something for everyone. One problem though is if you are a let night grab something to eat person you're going to have to order your food because places are not open up late. And they can be quite a walk sometimes.

There is a reason the Buckeye Nation is considered to be so devoted; an overwhelming love for OSU is evident in student responses, and in the loyalty of alumni to their alma mater. Each person has his or her own reasons for loving the University, and there are quite a few of them. Some students feel that the academics are top-notch and have found exactly the programs they wanted; others lean toward the athletic success of the Buckeye teams, while some just feel that the friendships and bonds they have made are enough to make their tenure at OSU worthwhile. At any rate, everyone can agree that being a Buckeye creates a special bond between you and nearly 50,000 other students, which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once you get past the sheer size of the University, it will really become a second home. After only a quarter of classes, you won't be able to cross the Oval without seeing someone you know. Ohio State is truly the smallest large university you will find. The people are known for their friendly attitudes, and alumni are scattered across the nation. If you choose to go to OSU, you're choosing a school with a name that's well known, both in the workplace and in the college community. Few students ever regret their time at Ohio State, and most consider their college experience to be among the best offered in the Big Ten and the country.
