Facilities: The school pride here is unbelievable! Having Michigan Week always gets everyone pumped up for the big game. Also, in the four main freshman towers, the social scene is always fun!

Guys & Girls: Normal Looks and Life – The people in Columbus are a wide range. However, most of them are about average. On a typical day a guy would wear jeans or sweatpants and a sweatshirt while girls would wear jeans or yoga pants and a sweatshirt. Some occassionaly get dressed up on the weekends, but nothing too fancy and rarely ever do girls wear heels.

Off-Campus Housing: Off Campus Housin Is a Struggle – Off Campus housing in Columbus is very expensive. It is nearly $500 without utilities to live in a house. Apartments are a little bit less expensive, but not significantly. Hometeam Properties is awful to work with and are worried more about themselves than their tenants. Finally, housing goes fast. If you start the search before Christmas break you will get one without a doubt though!

Weather: When it rains or snows bad the camus will close or the parking and driving will be tough

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Not that bad but you have to remenber it is a college campus so there will be drugs

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: Ohio State prides itself on being diverse, in every sense of the word, and it does have students from almost every country. You just often find yourself asking what the percentage of minorities actually is.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Get Involved, Easily. Athletics at Ohio State is HUGE. The workout facilities are state-of-the-art and each facility has a friendly atmosphere. School spirit is top-notch, especially during football season, but support for other varsity sports such as basketball, baseball, soccer, crew and hockey doesn't fall short either. If you aren't a star athlete, or want to try out a new sport you've never heard of, there are people playing it. And Ohio State has an involvement fair each quarter and a website set up specifically to help anyone get involved.

4 College Student

Off-Campus Dining: There are tons of off-campus dining choices within a few miles of campus. Chipotle, Five Guys, Panera, BW3's, and Applebees are all nearby.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Security and Intelligence – I am a female in a very heavily male dominated field, and I feel that professors underestimate me because of that. However, I believe that that works to my advantage as it gives me the ability to surprise them and show them what I can do. I have made excellent contacts with people from the military as well as federal offices such as the CIA and FBI.

Overall Experience: I Never Want to Leave. I never want to leave Ohio State. Everyone is so nice and I love the nightlife. The classes are hard but I love the school spirit. Go Bucks!

4 College Freshman

Transportation: Buses Are Most Convenient. Buses are always available to get somewhere. We get onto COTA buses with our buck id for free so I can get everywhere I need to go.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: We Love to Party. There are always lots of house parties but most of the bars are 21+. The ones that are 18+ are either only that way on a weekday or in a very sketchy area. There is always something fun to do however. It is too cold to go out int he winter sometimes.

3 College Freshman

Parking: No Cars – No cars allowed for Freshman at Ohio State - but unless you are commuting - you really don't need them.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Ohio State has three campuses of dorms. I hate the heat so I lucked out in getting into one of the Towers on West Campus where everything is air conditioned. You have to like people to live in the one of the towers though - 24 floors of 32 people each. Of course - you meet a lot of people which is great when you are a freshman.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Ohio State has great health resources - there are two nearby hospitals, the campus has it's own health center that is fully equipped, and they even have their own health insurance. Just make sure your own insurance covers you when you go to school and it isn't out of network.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Almost a Hundred to Choose from – There are so many fraternities and sororities on campus that deal with multiple academic and social issues. We have a designated street called Frat Row. If you are only interested in partying there are multiple frats to choose from but you also have a lot of academic frats too.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Off Campus Outscores on Campus – Ohio State is right across the street from a whole line of restaurants and fast food places which offer a wide variety of cultural foods. On campus, however, there are not many places to eat considering the overall size of campus and they are spread out. For example, If someone lived in the dorms on north campus they only have two places to go which offer pretty much the same type of food everyday. However, I must say that the Union offers the best food on campus at a restaurant called Sloopy's.

Local Atmosphere: Ohio State offers many great reacreational activities such as rock climbing, scuba diving, martial arts, as well as dancing. No matter what your interest is or your level of skill, Ohio State has something you can enjoy. These activities provide an awesome stress reliever to the class workload and allows for more social interaction between the students. I, myself, am excited about a a dance class I am taking next quarter which I know will be fun and I hope to make many new friends.

Facilities: Modern and Enjoyable – At Ohio State University, the Student Union, Libary, and Recreational Physical Activity Center (RPAC) are all wonderful landmarks to visit and hang out. Each facility has a beautiful environment inside and out, defined by furnished open foyers, vaulted ceilings, restaurants/cafes, and multiple stories to take advantage of.
The general aesthetics outside is a pleasuring mix of urban environment and natural space. Many high-rises tower nicely over the horizons, yet there are wide green open spaces, mature trees, and even a lake. It is very beautiful.

Computers: Computer Fulfillment – To be such a large institution, Ohio State University has thought out the distribution of computers on campus as well as insuring we can all have internet access, printing access and resources to go to for technical problems.
Assorted through the campus are libraries that usually get crowded during the middle of the day, yet majority of the time there is still a computer available.
Some of the dorms have computer labs in the basement or near the lobby accompanied by printing stations which can come in handy.
Also, Wireless Internet Connection is pretty satisfying in terms of speed, the signal strength display is usually at four out of five bars, representing a "good" signal strength.
Finally, there are resources for computer-related issues, such as ResNet, IT service desks, and Buckeye Bar whose workers are ready to assist you.
Overall, Ohio State University has you covered when it comes to computer access, although most people just want to be on the computer in the comfort of their own room.

1 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: In Need of Stronger Security – Everything seemed fine during the first quarter. Instructors expected you to be in class on time and the students expected that of the instructors as well. As far as security for vehicles go however, I feel that it needs to more enforced much more greatly. During my second quarter, my car got broken into, and my ipod was stolen. No camera reached my car, so there was nothing that could be done. The lock on the driver side door no longer works, and there's nothing I can do about not having my ipod...

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: Stay Focused – There seems to be quite a bit of partying at nearby housing. I've heard of several underage students drinking. There's no dorms in Lima and I commute an hour to and from every day so I'm not usually around in the night time.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Ladies and Gentlemen – Everyone seems to be happy. Most students dress appropriately, but there's always a few that don't. Some faculty is rude, but others seem extremely nice and outgoing. Students seem to interact well together, and are usually talkative to one another. It's easy to make friends.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: If you're moving from West Campus to Central Campus you'll definitely want to use the buses. Driving your own car to campus can be challenging, because at certain times during the day there is no parking available.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Football and Basketball Are Incredible – The football team is one of the best in the country and they go to a bowl game almost every year. Additionally, both the men's and women's basketball teams are really competitive and usually go far in the NCAA tournaments.

Intramurals are one of the best ways to get involved on campus. There are a variety of sports offered every season and they range from traditional (softball, basketball) to unusual (inner tube waterpolo and Wallyball.)

There is a reason the Buckeye Nation is considered to be so devoted; an overwhelming love for OSU is evident in student responses, and in the loyalty of alumni to their alma mater. Each person has his or her own reasons for loving the University, and there are quite a few of them. Some students feel that the academics are top-notch and have found exactly the programs they wanted; others lean toward the athletic success of the Buckeye teams, while some just feel that the friendships and bonds they have made are enough to make their tenure at OSU worthwhile. At any rate, everyone can agree that being a Buckeye creates a special bond between you and nearly 50,000 other students, which you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once you get past the sheer size of the University, it will really become a second home. After only a quarter of classes, you won't be able to cross the Oval without seeing someone you know. Ohio State is truly the smallest large university you will find. The people are known for their friendly attitudes, and alumni are scattered across the nation. If you choose to go to OSU, you're choosing a school with a name that's well known, both in the workplace and in the college community. Few students ever regret their time at Ohio State, and most consider their college experience to be among the best offered in the Big Ten and the country.
