2 College Sophomore

Parking: If you have a spot in Dempsey you dread moving your car. It is horrible finding a good spot, or sometimes a spot at all.

5 College Freshman

Parking: Parking lots are literally right behind the dorms and each academic building has a lot. Oglethorpe is small so it is easy for commuter students to find parking because residential students park at their dorms and walk to class. Permits were very reasonably priced, we are probably the cheapest school when it comes to that. There are a few times when upper classmen have issues with parking because one lot is really small and it is shared by two dorms but the surrounding lots are still fairly close.

5 College Freshman

Parking: Always plenty of parking. Small campus so close to everything. Parking permit fee is reasonable. Need for car on campus not necessary and public transportation close.

3 College Freshman

Parking: Sometimes you'll have a problem getting parking at the dorms and the library, but overall it's not a big problem.

3 College Freshman

Parking: Parking on campus really depends on where you want to park. If you want to park close to class there's always space, however parking at the dorms is rough, usually only one or two spots open.

Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Parking is a problem at Oglethorpe, mainly for freshmen. The freshman dorms don't have enough space. It's a competition to park in the lot near Dempsey because the Dempsey lot is also near Phase II, so students from Phase II will park there as well. This is part of the reason it's always full and why many students end up parking at Emerson. There's some more space at Traer, however, so parking there isn't as big of an issue. Really, it all depends on where a person is trying to park and how lucky he is that day.

Students sometimes park illegally, and they sometimes get away with it. However, when they don't, they get a ticket and can be towed. If an event is going on on campus, students are required to move their cars to the dorm parking lots or risk being fined.
