Oglethorpe generally feels safe, which is especially unique because it's in a big city. Patrol officers are always present on campus, and the campus itself is surrounded by a gate. The efficiency of both could be improved, but they still provide students with a feeling of security. In any case, besides a few works of thievery, there really isn't much crime on Oglethorpe's campus. Violent crimes are unheard of, and students can walk around without fear, even at night.
As for health concerns, there is a nurse available on weekdays. Her hours aren't always the most convenient, but she's very helpful, and there is also a doctor who comes in once a week. There often are sample giveaways of useful objects, from tampons to pamphlets dealing with diseases. A student can arrange for his/her prescriptions to be sent to a nearby pharmacy, and can see the nurse when ill in order to get an excuse from going to class.
